NorVin . Norton Vincent .

The RD350 is a brilliant motorcycle. You don't see many of them being lovingly restored though - I wonder why that is ? Where does 'true value' lie ?

Come to Ireland and you will see quite a few. The terms 'classic' and 'Japanese' are synonymous for many people here and Yam 2 stroke twins are quite popular. I thought the nicest of the lineage were the later 400s and the LC350s. I'm happy to look at them but I would never buy one. TZs are a different matter, though...

They're out there, the lovingly restored, or stock maintained, RD350s.

Thanks for the pIc the Doug Corish Norvin, Acotrel.

No need for megaphones, I guess.

I had an RD350 for years (i was in my late teens) - man i loved that thing, stupidly i traded it and a little cash for a 49 chevy panel wagon -the panel wagon got me laid way more often as i had it pimped out - but to this day i still miss that RD - the chevy not so much

It sure is funny how our perspective (priorities) change as we get older

it was for love that my brother did a similar thing, sold off my lovely Featherbed ES2 to purchase a 63 Volkswagen bug that smelled of rotten fish.
Asking price for the Volks was $80 car only or $100 including two stacks of well used porno mags that were on the back seat.
Sadly, the budget was not sufficient to go with the package deal.
A deal for the car was struck at $70 leaving a small surplus from the sale of the Norton, just enough to cover insurance and on the road costs, plus there was that awful stink to deal with.
After many applications of nil odor, multiple pine tree air fresheners and a thorough coating of Brut cologne on the driver, it was ready for action. If the stories are to be believed, it was a good trade.
I still miss the Norton.

Nice J A P Bike . :P :D

ha - nice!

& Kiwi Bill Buckley, who `d extensively [expensively] raced Vincents, built himself a 2T race-bike when he had millions to spend...
The BSL 500, a bit late, sadly, & too bad they banned them.
Mind you, I did see it hand the Britten its arse on a plate, running a performance duel display at the Pukekohe Classic races..

What does that tell you about how discerning buyers are ??

According to Pirsig / zen and the art of motorcycle maintanance . , ONE in Fifty Thousand has a I.Q. of over 170 . Theres an awful lot of mugs out there .
They even bought RD 350s . :P :D

Anything over 140 IQ is considered a genius, so 170 would seriously outrank Einstein ??

As to what motorcycles they would buy. ?
(1 in 50,000 - thats a pretty small market you are catering to ??).
Well, in theory a 2 wheeled device cannot stay upright, so they probably wouldn't ???

well daveh, you don't know what you are missing.....The water cooled RDs are very similar to a TZ and can be made to go like a TZ with a mixture of the right TZ and LC parts I seem to remember I have a LC 350 with a TZ crank tuned barrels & YPVS reeds and Powerjet carbs, it almost goes as fast as a TZ and with 4 pot front brake callipers can stop better.

Speaking to one of the aces around 80 , who was holding 3rd / 4th in the chumpionship for the prod RDs , he said more or less , that there was about four things needed doing .
Port Match , Reeds ( illegal  ) ATF in the box ( which doesnt do it much good ) and drilling a hole in the rear shocks pumping out & replaceing with 90 wt . again not Er . . . .

Said there were only a half dozen who new how to ride , a few of which didnt realise you needed to tweak the machineary . One couldve been a real threat he thought .But was back around
fifteenth of twenty two odd wrestling a wreck . His opinion was getting the thing working counted for most if you could ride , or you hadnt a shit show . He wasnt adviseing getting into it
as the air cooled suckers were obsolete for class next season or thereabouts .

Pavalovich had said some ace used the ton for the right hander onto the pit straight ( Pukekohe ) on the Z1 . He tried that once , and was sticking to 90 as he had insuficent underpants .

Same brand as you wear Matt? - You called Mc Intosh & ask`d him how fast he takes that corner on his Repli- Egli Vincent?

Where be this beastie ?
Looks quite resplendent sitting there like that, all spit and polish and gleaming metal....
