I've never seen factory produc ed aluminium barr els on a Norton. The Commando barrels were silver painted cast iron. I'd love an aluiminium stet

I beleive that they made some Alfin 500 single ones.

Hi,
I am new to the forum and located in North Florida. I have just come across a 1967 P11 stored in a garage. Number P11 121xxx. Bike was running 20 years ago but was disassembled for restoration and has been sitting in that state. Seems to be complete other than exhaust and there is also a box of various misc. NOS parts. I would love to hear from anyone who can offer advice on restoration, sources for parts, pictures, literature, etc.

I restored a Ranger (P11/1289xx) and live in SoFla.

Best source for oddball AMC parts for the bike is AMC Classic Spares in England. I found a handful of hard-to-find parts there. Steve Surbey runs the place

Stuff like the seat, skid plate, handlebars, fenders and such would be Mike Partridge at Walridge in Ontario.

Tony Shands at Domiracer is a good source for other stuff, like cables, clutch parts, etc.

Being a P11, the bike likely would have come with high pipes and off-road tuned forks. If the forks do not have buffer springs and collars, then you would need to change the main springs and damper tubes, and add the buffer springs and collars for safe highway use. Some P11s also came with larger gas tanks - about 3-1/2 gallons rather than 2-1/4. Standard tank is about 10 inches wide. Large tank is about 12-1/2.

PM if you have any questions.

Good find Johns .look at your private messages . Best bet is to aim to get everything perfect. This usually involves CLEANING IT . Carefully .
This way close will be pretty darn good .Talking mechanical , other than the frame , the paint can wait . Order of priorities and all .
And DONT toss ANYTHING out .

Aircraft standards will be adequate , if you want it to go properly .
