New to me 56 Domi 88.

rocker oil line issues. Been fighting with the rocker oil lines on my 56 Domi 88. First it was that the joint for the pipe into the banjo at the oil tank. Had to take it apart and re-solder it. A quick test showed that I had solved that problem, but I still have a oil leak at the tank. I think part of the problem is that the pipe had been chromed and that is flaking off at the banjo. A friend suggested that I use fuel petcock sealing washers instead of the copper ones, thoughts.

I used Dowty washers from these guys. Made for oil and high temps.

Thanks for the tip. There is a racecar supplier up in Cresson at the racetrack there. I will pay them a visit.

Well, I got the new hold down strap and pad back in December and set it aside until I needed it.
So, over the weekend I went to mount the tank and check the fit. Which is when I discovered that both the strap and pad were wrong.
The pad is made for a 1-1/4" strap, and the strap is the correct 1" wide. Then I noticed that the ends on the strap are wrong. The one at the head stock
should be 1/4" and it was much larger. Not sure what it is for, maybe an Inter? Sent an E-mail to Norvil and I am awaiting a reply. Two steps forward one step back.

I guess I should check mine - had it for a while now but haven’t tried it yet. Strap and rubber came from Norvil and connectors from Andover. I’ll let you know how it goes . Thanks for the heads up.
As of today all I have gotten was an reply saying Les had been on vacation and he would get back to me soon.

Just checked mine - same issues . The headstock end loops are large but I think I can close the down a bit and this will lengthen then strap a bit which will help in getting the bolt started . Other issues with the fastener set ( not from Norvil ) that I am working on.

Why don't the check before shipping or better yet when they receive them from their vendor.
I will let you know what I hear back from them.

I just e mailed them to inform them that I have the same situation.
I was able to reform the loops for the clevis pin at the headstock by squeezing in the bench vise and a little hammer work.

Norvil said that they had a lot of the straps, all made wrong so their using the trunnions was the best way to take care of the problem without costing themselves a boat load of money. The rubbers are easy enough to source without breaking the bank.

A simple die of hardwood and a bench vise will reform the loops.

Just picked up a sealed battery form Batteries Plus for the Domi. Built a jumper so I could charge the battery without removing it from the bike. Charged it up and I'm now ready to install it. Just waiting for the weather to warm up. Right now at 15f and I'm not sure of the wind chill. Time to sit back and enjoy another cup of coffee.
