New to me 56 Domi 88.

Wish I could find one like that. Couldn't find a Lucas part number for it.
What is it you are looking for ? Switch ? Headlamp shell ? “ skull “ instrument bezel ? I have Main - Smith reprints of Lucas catalogs as well as the parts ( I think ) from my Dommie basket case .

I would like to find the correct shell. One that looks like the picture you sent to me. The shell that I have looks like the one on my 58 Domi 88.

Not sure the one in the picture has a separate part where the switches, speedo, amp meter all go.
Always learning.

I saw two on ebay but at $250 plus shipping from the UK I might have to live with what I have. It is only a 2 year item which will make it hard to find an inexpensive one to find.
Thanks for your help.

The owner of this Domi wants me to used the headlight that he got with the bike. The guy who did own it and spent lots of money buying parts purchased a wiring harness for it. The thing is the harness is for a later bike and maybe not even for a Norton at least not this 56. Later bikes have a distributor, and this one has a mag. It would also have a alternator and this one has a dynamo. Looks like I will have to rewire it using the harness that I have as nothing seems to line up. I have rebuilt the dynamo and cleaned out the tank sealant from the gas tank.
I do have a bulb question, what are the correct bulbs for the pilot and speedometer?
Thanks for your help.

Might be easier to wire it from scratch do you have a schematic?

I have considered taking the harness that came with the bike apart and using those wires to wire the bike. I have both a 56-wiring schematic and a later one. Had the later one blown up to make it easier to read.
Thanks for your help.

Well progress has been made. Jumped through the hoops and I now have the title.
The inside of the tank is pretty clean and I was fitting the side panels. The right had side went right together and then, there is always a and then, the badge screws didn't want to go in as far as they should. Maybe a turn or turn and a half. Went to chase it out and it looks like the original screw had broke off.
Thinking I might use a LH drill to get it out but there could be issues if I do that. I maybe forced to use the Indian tank after all.

Well, I tried to fit the Indian tank onto the 56 Domi. It isn't a good fit with the factory frame pads in place. Also, the filler neck is wrong. The neck is set up for a hinged cap not the correct bayonet 1/4 turn type.

'And the fun continues. Went to fit the new tank badges and trim piece that covers the sides of the Dominator. I started to look for the pads that go under the badges and there weren't any. Went on RGM's web site and they don't list them. Looked up the correct part number and they aren't listed either on Andover Norton or RGM nor could I find them listed on Ebay. I will see it I can find some thin dense foam and make my own. Decided to fit the badges anyway, the screws are too short! They aren't long enough to fit through the badges and the trim piece and into the tank without the pad. I'm lucky enough to have a 58 Dominator and I compared those to what I have, there is a 3/8" difference.

Just a couple more curve balls !, Forks can have inside or outside springs and that changes how much oil you put in. Cylinder base nut washers look wrong ?. Undersize barrel is very odd ,unless sleeved ? I would run with 41/2 thou skirt clearance , 4 minimum . Oil ring one piece SDO type works ok. Is the barrel new ? perhaps one from Norville who have had some made ?.

Here are a few more pictures of my project Dominator 88. The Indian tank as you can see is too narrow at the back and doesn't sit over the frame rails like the original. The filler neck is for the wrong type of cap. Glad I didn't pay for that tank; it came with the project. Waiting for the correct size screws for the tank badges on the correct tank.

The UK Norton Owners Club list them p/n 18676 otherwise try Jeff Hunter Engineering.

Just got the screws for the badges, headed out to the workshop to see which set works. RGM's web site showed 2 different lengths, I bought them both.
I did see that RGM did have the pads, I had looked at the tank pictures which showed everything but the pads. Went looks for transfers and there they were.
Cheers.

I have the original tank strap and rubber for the 56 Domi but they both in very sad shape. When I redid my 58 Domi, RGM had the straps and rubbers, now they don't. I asked if they were going to have more made and they said that they had the material but couldn't find anyone to do the work. I checked Andover Norton, and they didn't list them either. Anyone know where I could check?

Norvil lists both the strap and rubber
