NEW NORTON COMMANDO MK3 REAR WHEEL SPROCKET

I am wanting a new rear sprocket for a Mk3.
Andover has a new one for $163+USAship = $200
Ebay has a variety of new from $39 to $200.

I would like a new rear sprocket at $39, but hesitate due to possible quality issues.
I am not looking for parental "you get what you pay for" responses.
I am wanting responses from ebay shoppers who have bought ebay rear sprockets for MK3, specifically.

Anybody have good results with this item from ebay?

I'm in need of a rear sprocket/brake drum myself - it's missing from the project I just got. Is yours worn out?

The Mk3 sprocket isn't a drum sprocket (as Mk3 rear is disc) so doesn't fit pre-Mk3 models/wheels.

Hi p400, I bought a similar sprocket for my restauration. Indeed, there was a quality issue. The prongs didn't fit the hub and the sprocket needed machining. As supplied, it was inaccurately casted and machined! In the end, nothing was gained by sourcing a cheap part.

Unless the offered sprocket carries an AN tag, I wouldn't buy it.

On another note, you should have a look at the sprocket offered by Esmeralda. Look for her thread on this site! I made this upgrade on my Mk3 and I am very pleased.

Esmerela made some really nice assemblies for the MK !!! that used a replaceable sprocket ( the only part that wears is the sprocket). They have the ability to use different teeth counts and appear to be much lighter than the cast iron originals.
I don't know if any are left but they look like a good option, unless you're only looking for something cheap.
Also I thought CNW was working on something similar but not sure if that went forward or not.
