Yes, I bought a 850 from someone who substantially over filled the primary and it gushed past the felt seal around the gearbox. Filling a stock 850 engine oil to the maximum also will have the tank puking into the air box. Several fixes to tame the breather, right now I'm using the Motormite/HELP #80190 Brake booster valve with success. If you do have a MKIIA, that's great. The swing arm pivot should be like a MKIII, which is more robust. You can check by looking at right side swing arm pivot end plug. If you have a zerk fitting in it, it's not later style.

My '74 benefited from the booster valve. The only real leak I now have is from the head gasket due to pulled studs.

I run Interpol tanks and use Interstate seats with the ears moved to bring the seat forward. You get a good compromise with a better seat position than the Interstate and more fuel than a Roadster. Roadster range is no good for Scotland as there are too few rural fuel stations.
