the oil should not effect the running but it will make a mess. sounds like time to remove the timeing cover and replace ALL the seals there.
I might drag out mine for a ride this weekend as it looks like we will have nice weather here. we are like southern california with riding year round.

Finally had some time to have a play over the break. Change to old mufflers only had a small beneficial effect - extra 10mph - so probably nothing tuning can't sort there. I have also cleaned up the battery terminals which seems to have had about the same effect so may largely be in need of a tidy up of the electrics in general.

I also gave in to temptation and bought a back up bike - a Ducati Monster, 10 yrs old and well used. Hope to have at least one running at any one time!
