Motogadget M Unit.

We have fit many M-Units to our top builds. Never a problem, and such a joy to use. Every circuit is fused and will illuminate if there's any issue. It has a built in relay robust enough to handle a starter motor. Ken, it would be easy to bypass in an emergency as the wires are clipped in place, so the ignition circuit could be removed and directly connected to the battery (I can see you now on the side of the road with your alligator clips!). Attached are shots of a setup we've done on a customer's Domi, up on our lift now.

Tidy installation, Kenny. I'm mounting mine right in front of the battery on the MK3 for easy access (using pod air cleaners, so plenty of room there).

so it looks like i'm about 10yrs behind the curve. I just finished wiring my 74 with an eastern beaver PC8 fusebox. i have seen the m-units about a yr ago, but could not get past the cost. the D-box might be a better fit for me maybe in a future galaxy...

I have a new mUnit Blue, Motogadget Chronoclassic tach and Revival Cycles wiring kit out in the garage waiting to be installed in my Guzzi custom project. After painstakingly installing the Lucas harnesses in my Commando exactly as Norton intended, I think the Motogadget system will be a blast to fit and play with. Kind of expensive, but way more gratifying than paying the dentist.

Nice set up. Is that a Tri Spark regulator inside the battery box? A good test for its cool running if it is.

That’s a rather neat install by Kenny.

I’m still intrigued by the single wire rear light idea, how does it work exactly?

Do you still run a twin filament bulb?

Does it power both filaments all the time, making them both brighter when the brake light switch is employed?

Or does it use some other magic?

Thats right Nigel, just wire both filaments together. I guess the unit just lowers the voltage but it could introduce a fairly high frequency on/off which would make both filaments dimmer.

Either way I think it could make the bulbs last longer as it wouldn't be as hot whilst on.

The Motogadget website does have a cheaper alternative that does a similar job, Vercu has posted a direct link to it, a bit cheaper but modular so you could add bluetooth etc if you wanted.

As for reliability, there will be something similar fitted to most modern bikes, at least with these units, because you will have fitted it yourself, you could easily bypass it as a get you home if it did go wrong.

For me with a new build or a re-wire it is a no brainer, it's just the cost.

You can run LED or twin filament. Once all is installed there is a test function to run, the unit turns each light/indicator on and off then knows what is installed. The test is supposed to be re-run each time bulb is changed. A 10 second job if you have the bluetooth version.

That’s a very cool electronics enclosure Kenny. Is the cover fabricated yet? I’d love to see a picture. What RR do you fit?

That looks like the stock Domi battery box shape so the stock cover should fit.
Note the tiny conventional battery, 3.5 amp hour. I've been thinking of going this route on the lightweight bike, rather than Lithium.
