Mark III LED turn signal help

Update on the LED turn signal conundrum. I have all four led's in and flashing correctly. I had ordered an adjustable flasher from Amazon. After adjusting the speed of the flasher I got them working with one caveat....the ts indicator won't work with or without the tweaker. At this point I'll go with the brighter turn signals... hopefully someone one will make an LED indicator and I will try that.

There shouldn't be any need to wait, just replace the warning bulb with a suitable 12V LED.

Ah hah! I'll check ledbulbs.com
Could be your warning lamp has passed on. If going with led warning lamp, be sure it is polarity insensitive as it will need to pass current both directions for left and right warning. Also, always use the same colour lamp behind a colored lens, so usually an amber bulb for amber warning lens. Use of a straight white bulb will show diminished output brightness behind a colored lens, b/c lens do not put out the full spectrum of colors like incandescent do.

Do you have any good sources for these? Google is not my friend today.

I believe it's a new AN incandescent bulb (which is why it doesn't work).

I think an LED bulb might still need the tweaker or at least would still work.

Yes, having polarity insensitive led does not remove need for tweaker, as the need for tweaker is to overcome the low current passing through the warning lamp, which is sufficient to permit led signals to light on wrong side of bike...incandescent do not have that issue. Non polar led warning lamp allows current flow in either direction through the warning bulb, just like incandescent lamp permits.

Only other way to avoid tweaker need with led signal lamps is to fit a special flasher with a third connection prong that then controls warning lamp directly. Had not heard of these flashers until recently (see my link in one of my first responses to this thread for a source).

Unsure what bulb fitment is on your bike but I believe my '74 mk2 850 takes BA7s bayonet mount warning bulbs.
Here is a link to a site in UK I've ordered from in past...the linked ba7 is described as polarity insensitive.

Should be othe sources for similar from state side though...I vhecked SuperBrightLEDS site but only list one ba7 led and polarity sensitive.

The problem with such a relay is that the warning lamp output is normally intended for a negative earth/ground system.

Although my Durite flasher relays work with the polarity reversed, the warning bulb output doesn't.

The 850 Mk3 (Pistor & Kronert) warning colours do not have the usual replaceable bulbs although it is possible to replace the bulb the (now usually brittle) colour often breaks during the removal of the 'snap-fit' bulb terminal...

Regarding the special flasher with warning lamp connector...the one I mentioned does state available for either negative or positive earth vehicles:
