MAP TALK

I do not know of any in Canada. Sorry. I have finally captured the oil routing which will be of huge interest to everyone. It was even an eye opener to myself. A super awesome finding is the engine was designed so well the oil level being low is not a big deal at all. Not that I suggest it tho. Stay tuned for one of the coolest manuals ever.... Thanks to Tony for asking for it I finally captured it. Now I have to get it into print.

Hmm this is interesting. My Dominator SS went in for its first service a few days ago. Other than one problem with a loose relay the bike has run flawlessly, with no oil issues. Well that changed upon getting home after picking the bike up. Oil everywhere, origin is the air box. Oil level appears correct. The dealer is picking the bike up tomorrow. They did mention something about some new tech bulletins from the factory regarding this issue. Odd that it's only appeared now and more than a coincidence that it occurred immediately following the service. I'll let you all know the outcome once it's been sorted. Shot a short vid a minute after returning home.

This thread is going way off topic but I bet the oil issue was always there but the drain was plugged before service. I have a manual about it. PS it has nothing to do with oil level.

Hello IWilson , I agree with what Richard said . Is your air box drain plugged or un-plugged now ? You should unplug it after your rides only and drain it at home in to a cup. Record the amounts and report that to your dealer.

In the interest of keeping this thread on topic I'll copy my last post into the Dominator SS thread with some additional information.

Just to bump this topic.

Here's the latest.

As of mid summer 2016 there is a new BIN file or OS (not sure what to call it) This is independent of the fuel maps. If ever you get your bike remapped. REQUEST THIS!! And make them include they installed it on the invoice.

ALSO BE SURE TO GET THE FULL FILE NAME OF THE MAP ON THE INVOICE SO YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE RUNNING!!! In case later you hear of a new awesome map, you can see if you actually already have it or not if the number is the same.

COMMANDO MAPS as of SPRING 2016 these maps are fantastic and debugged. You will be smiling.
STREET USE long quiet mufflers - 6500076_PR5_0116
OFF ROAD USE ONLY MOTAD SHORTIES - 6500077_PR5_0116

091 works on a commando but it is a little rich because it's made for the DOMI airbox volume. The bike starts easier but you loose a few horses and you can see proof with TONYA's graphs from the dyno runs. Or pull your plugs and look at color.

DOMI 6500090_PR2 STREET LEGAL
DOMI 6500091_PR2 MOTAD SHORTIE OFF ROAD USE ONLY
DOMI 6500092_PR2 MEGAPHONE DEF. OFF ROAD USE ONLY WITH NO O2 SENSORS EITHER.... THESE ARE CRAZY LOUD!!!!

If anyone has anything pre SUMMER 2015 you will be really happy spending the time (and maybe $$$) re-mapping. Better starting, idle, vibration, HP, etc....

Hope this helps.

This helps a lot, Richard. I need to ask one more time - does the new OS require a specific ECU? There was a discussion about this somewhere. By the looks of my particular ECU there is no way to tell what make or model it is. :o

The ecu in my manual is the the second one which is the one from definitely 2013-2015 maybe earlier but bikes came in north america 2013 so its all i know. And the one in my manual can take new OS. The 2016 ecu is a whole different story. They are all good.

Okay, so with mine having been built in mid-December of 2015 it could possibly have the 2016 ECU. Maybe that's why Simon wanted my VIN? In any case, MCC need to consult with factory since they won't have my bike.

Thanks much for clarifying this stuff!

This makes a lot of sense to me. Let us know how it works out.

Just got word from Bob at MCC that the download to my ECU is complete. He did say I got the 116 OS/map (same as what TonyA got) and that he would make a note of exactly what I have. The one thing that is still not clear is the manufacturer of my ECU. This surprises me! Wouldn't the software inform them of all this stuff? He told me he would talk to Matt at SBN to see if he could shed some light on it.

In any case, my ECU is heading back to me. Hopefully, I will get it installed next week see what changes. :D

Great news. The changes will be noticeable.

I received my ECU back from the service guys at MCC today. I won't install it until tomorrow, but looking at the paperwork I am as puzzled as ever! According to Richard C's breakdown I should be using the 6500077_PR5_0116 fuel map for my bike with the Motad exhaust and de-cat x-pipe. What do I have in the notation? 65000_PR5_0116 - how unspecific is that?! And I still don't know the manufacturer of my ECU. The proof will come tomorrow, of course. But for Pete's sake, why the freakin' mystery?! :?

Hello Contours , If your ECU was all black then you have the SC ECU like me. The OMEX ECU box is bright silver . Look at richards last manual about the Domi Tail section.

Okay, Tony. Thanks for clarifying. In that case I do have the SC. But the fuel map number? A typo for sure, but I hope they loaded 6500077_PR5_0116.

Hello Contours , If you are getting my map you should be satisfied. I might also suggest the 17 t front sprocket , if performance (faster acceleration) is what you are after . The 18t will pull 130 + , but the time and distance needed will be stressful . The 19t will make 140 ? But you don't have the roads to do it. Long clear roads are not New England. You might as well get the 17 tooth and shred the tire coming out of those corners .

Well, according to the phone conversation I had with Bob I am getting your map. :D

I am considering the smaller sprocket, but will it make the bike lurchy? I do some tight corners that are already made more difficult with the stock sprocket. My Speed Triple has the same problem with these.

With 17 tooth it's less lurchy at lower speed than with stock sprocket, because you will have higher RPM at same speed. I have actually the 17t mounted.
