So here goes what may be a really stupid question. I just pulled apart my Lucas K2F Magneto and cleaned everything up, put back together in prep for a bench test, and replaced the very old point set. I don't see where it is possible to adjust the point gap. What am I missing? The gap is consistent on both ramps but much bigger than .012. closer to .032. Thanks

If you have points like this you undo the locknut and turn the hex on the actual points contact itself https://images.app.goo.gl/NtQQ6spdoL6AgDhP9

It's the later type. The large screw you are talking about is the slotted one correct? I was expecting there to be a slot in the plate that you would insert a flat blade screw driver into and then adjust. I really don't see such an accomodation
It's such a long time since I adjusted a set I can't exactly remember
But yes it's the big slotted screw
I'll dig a set out tomorrow and take a look but it should be slotted on the actual points plate like this. https://images.app.goo.gl/24g1eJ4tFeQj75VY7

Speaking of things I don't miss messing with. It was so much fun using tiny wrenches behind the engine under the carburetion. I was young and stupid and did all the ignition setup with everything installed. If I would have been smart, I would have done the points gaps on the bench.

A threaded stud with half the points and a lock nut on the other end worked for adjusting the gap on the K2F I had.

For grins I checked the gaps and it was .012 on one ramp and around .01175 on the other ramp. Close enough for an old high performance lawn mower motor.

Note the Yellow plug. Way faster with Yellow.

Yea. Mine is slotted. You just can’t see that it is when installed. It was just stiff. All set. Now to sort out and test everything else, armature, slip ring, magnetism, condenser etc etc ect
