It appears there will be two colour schemes. Personally I think this bike is smokin’ hot and at least as good looking as the Garner V4 - a little more tasteful maybe. Still in yer face gorgeous. No way you’re walking past this bike without taking a look IMO.

Although it is a very good looking bike. And I know it’s a Norton. But, from a distance all super bikes / crotch rockets look alike. Can’t say that about the 961 offerings.

Its more a case of it sharing some common components with the rsv4.
If it was that much cheaper, the 961 would have a cable clutch.
How is a cable not cheaper than a slave cylinder, master cylinder, fluid and line?

I get the difference in feel, but that’s a personal choice between riders.

I’d agree a cable is simple and offers some personal adjustments

Fluid and line were free to Norton.....master cylinder and slave would have been under £40. There's a lot more to convert something from cable to hydraulic than just adding those parts. Aprilia chose cable, so makes sense for Norton to copy.

To expand on purchasing costs, a Brembo radial master cylinder to staff, which was cost plus admin fee plus vat, was £44. A Brembo rear brake master to staff was £8.52. Hel supplied all lines for free, as long as Norton left the yellow bands on. Silkolene and later Motul, supplied all fluids for free

Yeah, so did Triumph, on their twins.
The action and feel is excellent, and the pulling pressure is very moderate, even when using stiff performance springs.
Also, with the shorter cable used, never had a cable snap on my T100 in 16 years.

Harley Davidson went back to cable clutch the last few years because it was cheaper than the hydraulic. I imagine they get some of the same perks but still went back to save a few bucks

Harley make nearly 200,000 bikes a year....Norton managed 1% of that over a decade. So a tad unfair to compare production cost savings lol
The bike was not designed around a cable operated clutch, with cost saving being the primary design brief. They were basing a lot of the bike and engine on rsv4 components....to rework all that to have a hydraulic operated clutch, which in its self offers no gain, would simply be a waste of time, effort and money.
Personally I'd love a cable operated clutch for my track bike....but I cant justify the conversion cost right now.

Would like it all black with those undeniable JPS grey and gold pin stripe and a little bit more detailing.

Just smoke and mirrors, anyone watch last nights TT preview on ITV. Begs the question why have we not seen the bike most will buy. Apparently Norton were looking to enter this years supertwin class.

No,
Hicky wanted to enter his own Superlight. He bought a bike and support package from Norton shortly after the 2019 TT. Unfortunately organisers said no to it, as its no longer in production. He then switched to Aprilia, before a last minute switch to the race proven Paton.

Real shame and suggests the new owners are spouting crap when they said the 650 twin was not even at a stage where it could be used for prototype testing.
More so when Aprilia turn up with a 660 twin, I wonder where that engine came from.

I hope he gets to ride it in something after all the work that’s been done on it. Even a parade lap.

I’d say Cliffa! Let’s get the main man doing a parade lap on this beauty, albeit his re-engineers bike!! Lots of positive talk about Norton already but that would be priceless PR. Reason to be optimistic — I think so!

I’m not entirely sure of the rules here, but I believe this class is intended for modified production bikes. So I think Hicky and Co were a tad naive in expecting to enter a bike that is and never was actually produced !

But look at it…

If TVS ever decide to pull their bloody finger out, there’ll be a low mileage MV for sale in a heartbeat !!
