Yes that's the way I'v looked at it for years. In 1900 there were about two billion people on the planet, until 1800 less than one billion and for the thousands of years before that only millions around the world. The main source of heat, energy was wood, straw and buffalo chips, basically renewable energy. After we started pumping billions of barrels of oil, burning and releasing all that carbon that had been burred for millions of years it's not a stretch to see that the trees now can't cope with that. Of course if you don't think millions of tons of carbon released into the atmosphere by eight billion people annually could cause a problem pleas disregard my ramblings.

What if the cutting of billions of trees is a major factor? The Industrial Revolution not only saw the increase in fossil fuel use, but the invention of heat engine driven saws resulted in large scale deforestation, as the new dimensional wood material became a new building material.

Well now......I have lived thru " If you see the flash from the atomic bomb, hide under your desk", outside lay down next to the curb" " The RED MENACE" , " we will run out of oil in 20 years!!", The Russians are going to invade us!, The " POPULATION BOMB!!! ", The gas shortage,
on and on and on.
WTF? I'm going for a ride,

Right you are! With a geological hat on, I think it can be shown the earth is still in the midst of ending an ice age, with rising
temperatures and sea levels as the ice caps melt. On a shorter timeframe, I think it can also be shown that the human population
in the world is burgeoning, especially in 3rd world countries. And everyone wants to be warm, have warm food and drive an SUV.
SO, who here is wise enough to quantify how much each contributes to climate change. This doesn't have to be a political
discussion at all and young people don't have to be denigrated for being concerned about a world they have to live in when
a bunch of old curmudgeons like us are dead and gone.

Are we ‘conflating our conspiracies’ here at all Shane? Wasn’t it Thunberg (and no I’m not a fan) back in 19 that let the WEF have ‘both barrels’ during her presentation? Wasn’t she part of a demonstration outside the WEF in Jan this year.​

So, is she a clandestine confidant or a critic - I’m confused?​

She didn't "predict" doodly-squat.

She read the absurd lines that her trainers gave her, learned to carefully "present" them exactly in the manner her acting coaches taught her to, then spouted her brains out on public stages that her handlers paid huge sums of money to get her on.

One of the most sickening, fake people I've been forced to see/hear in my entire 65 years.

(not to mention she hasn't the first *&^%$# clue what she's talking about, evidence the "results" of her "prediction")

I had no doubt when I heard that she'd deleted her prediction from 2018 that it could be distorted or a misquote or simply untrue
That's just the way the world is now
So why was the post deleted ?
Or is it still up ?
 
I am so over this debate about climate change, the earth has always gone through many climate changes in the billions of years or for as long as its been here, as for my own country of this great land down under, we are the driest continent in the world, the aboriginals one of the oldest people on the planet, but they learned to live with the land, they were nomads and never stayed in one place, they moved on when thing changed and when they did they burn off where they been so the bush regenerate it help the native animals and plants.
Settlers have only been here for just over 200 years and upset the natural environment from what's been happening for over 40000 + years, we have long term droughts, bush fires, we have average rain falls and every so often we have big rain falls that floods everything, the aboriginals learn to live with all these seasonal changes.
White man comes along and build big cities, dam the natural river systems to control water for framing and people living in crowed coastal areas where 80% of Aussies live then come times of drought our river systems suffer, people build houses on the river banks because they like to be close to the water an then when we have the big drought breaking wet season and everyone suffers from flooding, blame climate change.
Inland Aust relies on ground water, without floods the ground water dries up we need floods to replenish that water supply.
We have our good times but we also have our bad times, it's been happening for millions of years and climates have change in that time as well, but in stead of fixing things the way it was and too many so call climate change experts drumming their beliefs in the young ones heads that we are all doomed, over population, tearing the trees down so we can feed the population, then the natural land suffers, but we got to learn how to manage the land better and learn off the people who looked after the land for all those 40000 + years and live with the changes, not make it worst, man kind is our worst enemy here, we want to live the good life and all but we need to get back to looking after the land, let the rivers flow as it use to be instead of tearing it up to build more houses, dams or farm lands, we got to live with the earth not destroy it and mother nature rules not man kind.
There is climate change but as I say it's been happening long before man came along.
As for the doomed they been around as long as man been here.
