This may be old news, but! I have been shopping for rear shocks for a project. Shipping in todays world is a major factor. Ikon was one of the companies I have been in contact with. Went to a cycle show/flea market today and there was a Ikon shock booth and the gentleman is located right here in Pennsylvania! Got show sale price and no shipping, I'm happy. On line Ikon never mentioned it, so for us on the east coast of USA here is his info!

Does anyone know the weight of these shocks?
They look to be aluminium bodied so should be nice and light?

Edit-. Perhaps not so light. The website shows chromed bodies for the 7610 type, if that is what is above?

Iron Australia are really good to deal with, I brought a rebuild kit for my old Koni shocks after 32 years service on my Norton when one blew the main seal $40 for the rebuild kit and posted over night I also ordered new Ikon shocks for my Manxman build, when I was removing the springs from my Koni shocks one of the spring retainers was broken phoned Ikon up and 2 new ones posted up over night without charge, how good is that.
Last year I ordered a new set of Ikons for my Triumph Thruxton 1200 S they didn't have any in stock for my bike and said will take 3 weeks to build and I placed my order, well one week later the new shocks were at my front door, bloody great I phone the lady I was dealing with to thank her and to thank the workshop lads, it's great to deal with them and they are great shocks, 42 years with my old Koni shocks on my Norton and they are still working as good as the day I bought them in 1979 and only rebuilt for the first time a few years back.

About half the price of a re-buildable set of alloy bodied shocks...weight wise ? ...dont know and for the price ..no concern to me

The 7610 shocks are steel body shocks, they make alloy body shocks but a different model number and they have wind up spring adjusters, I don't know I have always had the steel bodied Koni/Ikons as really the extra light shocks would it make any different to how they work or handling on the bike.

When I had my old 2013 Thruxton I wanted to put a set of Ikons on but my bike dealer con me in putting a set of alloy Gazi shocks on and I went with a set they had 29 damper settings and wind up springs, took me about 2 months trying to set them to the right setting for my bike and less than 12 months one blew the main seal, not happy at all, but lucky a mate wasn't happy with his near new Ikons, had a chip off the paint on one spring and he gave them to me and I put them on the Thruxton, they were the same size and looks as my old Koni shocks on my Norton, after getting the Gazi's rebuilt at my cost as Gazi tried to blame me for the seal blowing but they just didn't want to back their faults, I sold the old Thruxton with the Gazi shocks and now have a spare set of Ikons for my Norton they are so much simpler to set up and adjust.

I stick with what has worked for me for so long, 42 years with my steel body Koni's will probably out last me and hopefully the steel body Ikons will be as good.

If your happy to spend money I had excellent results on my featherbed race Dommie with Works Performance shocks.

Company now called Worx Performance after original owner died and daughter now runs the company. USA based.

They have Commando specs on the system Glen, and will build to custom specs.

As used by Molnar (and others) on his ‘works’ bikes. So they’re obviously very good.
