Idle Problem

Hi first post on this forum.
I'm now the proud owner of a 961 Commando sport 2014 model. My first Norton although I do own 3 BSA singles and 1 Ducati.
The bike has been re-mapped (latest 100 I think) has oil mist bottle and is running sport pipes.
As has been mentioned on the forum bike when ridden for a while idles at around 1800 and is a bit noisy. When first started no problems. Bike cools down again no problems. Bike has 1900km on clock.
I've read as much as I can, but can't find a definite reason for it or a fix for it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Nopdog , Try and reach Kevin French at Norton Motorcycles UK . I had a few questions about the symptoms . Does it do this every time you are fully warmed up ? If you have a 2014 then you have the SC ECU I think ? There have been reports from owners that have needed throttle body replacement and possible change to NEW OMEX ECU . Make sure all hoses are clamped and no air leaks . I have been using the spring clamp type you compress with a pliers and fit on my machine . Also make sure none of the Idle Motor screws are loosening . I had this happen to me and I have used a drop of purple Loctite (screw lock) , not blue , not red . Pay close attention to the screws on the Idle Motor and clamp the air lines at the throttle body and at the Idle motor . You can clean and flush the Idle Motor , read it in Richard-7 manual and clean up the plug connection. Talk to Kevin French at UK Norton for more advice.

I agree with everything Tony said. Its a start and usual of most of your symptoms.

No high idle this time. I get the high idle of the IAM flange loosens, but since retightening it the last time. I get a dip. Sometimes idles down at 1K (which sounds cool, but ain't right) and restarting while hot, it idles low and stalls sometimes at stop lights. Overall, bike ran great, but hate putting it away with that being its last symptom. This also has been since the Lamda delete but can't say if that's the problem.

I blocked my IAM and bike runs perfect

Yea. It was running perfect for a few hundred miles before this started so I didn't want to screw with it. I'll reread your thread on that.

If I just disconnect the hose and tape it off for a trial run, would that work?

Remember , After you block off the IAM hose and IAM spigot in air box you will have to adjust the Idle screw when the engine has warmed up . Most likely the engine will not stay running at idle without an adjustment . So have your tools ready on hand because it won't run without you giving it some throttle .

Get the bike to operating temp before doing this.

Could someone please confirm what the factory says that idle speed should be?

Euro 4 , 961 Service Manual states 1200 +- 100 rpm
