Here I go ...

Hey, I dialed that number today and couldn't connect. I wonder if my workplace blocks calls to the UK. I guess I will try from home next time.

The 011 prefix is to access international dialing from US phones ( the 44 is the country code for UK ). You may know this already. They might have that blocked at your workplace to prevent people from dialing internationally.

Finally got in touch with Phil today to order my "intermediate" length Motad exhaust system. I'd like to say my workplace was blocking the call, but in the end it was the extra "0" I was dialing (among other things) that kept me from ordering. After speaking with Phil for a couple minutes I understand what I have heard about this guy. He makes the process simple and pleasant, for sure.

So, at this point I have a new exhaust system and a bunch of other necessities ordered well in advance of my 961 Sport being assembled. I sure hope it all comes together by May of next year.

Call or email Phil with KrazyHorse. He got my order and had it at my doorstep in three days.

Did that, DallasNorton. Hey, I bought my wife an XL883N last month. Being a Harley chick from way back, she absolutely loves it! I am curious about what you think of it. I mean, do you ride it? And, if so, how the heck do you deal with the change in foot position compared to your other bikes?!

Just depends what I want to ride that day. Peg position doesn't really bother me.

Here I go ...

Motad ( Norton ) also makes a long pipe!

Oh, that sounds interesting. I visited the website, but am not having any luck finding options. Maybe I'll call them as suggested.

Thanks!

Hi Guys,

Just so you all know after market exhausts are available direct from us here at the Norton Factory. Not particularly well shown on the website but under the bike options is listed the Short Open Pipes, Long open Pipes and Decat Pipes. I think you all know what the Short Open Pipes are. The Long Open Pipes have the same performance gains and very similar sound to the short however they are identical in looks to the stock system (bar looking into the end the opening is bigger).
Please contact karen@nortonmotorcycles.com for further info.

I have fitted a set of the Norton long pipes. They maintain the original look, which I like. They are not massively noisy ( quieter than the short pipes) but do give more volume than the standard. The fit is perfect giving plenty of chain clearance. They are stainless steel .
I had the set fitted at the factory during the first service and had the remap done to correct for the free flowing system. There is certainly a distinct improvement in performance compared to the original system.

So are you saying this is an option similar to seat, rims, wheels, etc>? If so, I could have specified the upgrade when I ordered my bike, correct? And I wouldn't have an unwanted set of stock pipes laying around. Tell me it's not too late to make this change, Simon!

Unfortunately not Peter, we have to by law provide the motorcycle in its road legal condition. The after market exhausts are available for those of you who wish to ride on track / off road.

Okay, Simon - I understand. I just wanted to make sure I hadn't missed something when I ordered my bike. Thanks!

Well, I hardly believed the promise of delivery in 2 to 3 months, but as of yesterday my 2015 red Sport will be ready to ship within a week or so. Though I may have derailed the schedule a little by requesting a change. I will have a pair of CF wheels shipped along with the bike (standard wheels mounted) - It's not clear whether I'll be charged for both. The timing is perfect since Krazyhorse is just about to ship my order for the Motad exhaust, CF chain guard and rear tire hugger, too. Now I can have it all sent to MCC for installation, re-map and break-in as opposed to taking delivery at home and then re-shipping to Chicago. Peter, the sales guy, said he'll e-mail some photos after she arrives.

As planned the bike will reside at MCC over the winter months. I should be able to send for it sometime in May. Good thing I am a patient man, eh?!

Reality is rapidly approaching. My beautiful red 961 Sport will be picked up in Villa Park, IL next week and is scheduled to arrive by the 28th! I'll be ready for a memorial Day weekend ride for sure.

It would great to have you swing by except It would take a major effort for you did travel this far, Richard. I'm deep down in southern Vermont, just 2 miles off the Massachusetts border. Maybe I'll hear your "noise" as you head over to Niagara Falls!

Peter

And so we met. It's going to be a great story, Richard. Put it all down in words before too long, okay? :)
