Here I go ...

Delays, of course. My Sport is not likely to arrive before the end of day Tuesday or sometime on Wednesday. That's fine. I wasn't going to be able to ride it until after the weekend anyway.

Did not arrive until late this morning! But the wait is over. I had to tighten up several components and check the slack in the chain before finally heading down the road. But once I did - oh what a ride!! Very impressed with the power, the ease shifting gears and, of course, the confidence inspiring handling.

My only complaint at this point is the cold starts. She sure likes to stall and even backfire until warm. Maybe the new coil and plugs will help?

I have yet to familiarize myself with the airbox drain. All I see is a tube hanging from the bottom of the airbox. How am suppose to catch the effluent?

Time to study Richard's manuals.

Matt Capri says the stalling when cold and the long warm ups are due to the EPA compliant ignition wires. I didn't have that problem until the dealership performed work and remapped. Same map, but different outcome. Takes a few miles, then is fine for the rest of the day. I need to get the wires. Do you have aftermarket pipes yet? Oh....sorry....congratulations, by the way. Its a fun bike. For 80 HP and 66 lbs. torque, they really pull. Decat that sucker and it will be more fun.

She is de-catted! The sound is very nice - not as loud as I thought it might be.

I have Richard's ignition kit on hand. I also have the Bosch coil and Iridium plugs ready to install. From what I've read this will help, if not solve the problem.

But what I'm a little confused by is the drain tube beneath the airbox. The stock set up appears to be open. I imagine I might see a puddle where it empties out? So what/where is the plug everyone refers to? I think I have a replacement tube that came with the transmission vent I got from Richard, but I'm not sure how it is different from the stock set up.

Nevermind. I just re-read Richard's manual about draining the airbox. Now I understand - I need to see if mine is plugged and then follow the procedure he has very clearly outlined.

My tube was unplugged when I got the bike. It never left an oil spot on the floor, however, I can see stains where a little oil would burn off the X pipe while riding. I've never had an oil in the airbox issue and my air filter still looks new with 5k on the bike. I now have a clear wider diameter tube there with a plug so I can visually monitor any oil draining, but with all the upgrades done, there is no build up. Oil is simply not making it to the air box.

It will take me a few trips yet to see if I need that upgrade. Only put 44 miles on 'er yesterday.

Enjoy all the attention your going to get. Just don't get run off the road by picture takers.

My wife and I stopped for lunch at a local cafe yesterday. We got one crazed voyeur yesterday who casually mentioned he owns a '54 Triumph. He didn't realize Norton was back in the game. :)

Had a lot of gawkers yesterday on my 100 mile ride. Popular question "you built that?"
