Not a victim mentality, just fed up with lazy policing.
I see you are from Thurso, a town with its own drug and knife crime problems,

Just like the rest of the country really and what are the police doing about it? Perhaps they have no easy targets or the drug dealers have them in their pay.
Yes drugs and knifes and even guns are illegal, but like as not the run would have gone without incident and provided a spectacle for all to see, but the lazy police just have to poke the dragon and then crow about finding a few drugs and knifes, whoopy doo, what else happened on the run? small number plates, no tax?
Serious crime is happening all over the UK and it goes unaddressed because the police are basically just waiting to collect their pensions, get your house burgled, have a crime number, have your car or bike stolen, you had better find it yourself because if the police find it you will need a load of cash if you want it back from them.
Our town recently got two more police to keep us safe, one to walk the streets in a hi-vis and another with a speed gun to pay for their wages, a total waste of space.
but they do need to show the public that they are still keeping them safe, so the stop and search for the run was just propaganda, but does not address the real problems.
It looks like the guys from abroad were the ones that were arrested and charged but was it necessary, no victim no crime.
The clamp down on bikes has started and as usual it isn't about the trouble makers, too much work involved to catch the law breakers just stop all bikes.
This from 2016 and Without looking I guess this kind of thing has spread to other areas.

And no, I don't wear a patch.
