My 1970 norton Commando has a halogen light bulb. The glass part the bulb fastens in says Carello in Italy. its a Philips 12v 60/55. Is there a reference number that i can use to buy this bulb at my local auto parts?
Also This Norton grenaded in 1976 and I'm getting ready to start it for the first time. Is straight 50w oil good to use untill I get the synthetic put in ??
regards raymond

Take the bulb to the parts store with you. Chances are its a standard H4 with a 3-prong connector. They didn't make so many different types back then as they do now. The main difference nowadays is the connector base. If you haven't changed the oil yet, do so before starting. If you already have, the 50 will be OK, but it doesn't flow as readily as 20W50 and may render it harder to start in cool weather.

alright that sounds easy enough, 20w-50 and a H4 halogen head lamp.
I called my loco auto parts guys today for a battery, and they have never heard of a YUASA 12 nb-4B-1 bATTERY, there a NAPA parts store .. That was an older post I got the battery info from... Is this battery exclusive from a dealer ???
I put my norton on the floor on 2 wheels and a center stand for the first time in 34 years. I never realized how low to the ground they are...

Maybe you just grew taller?

Where are you (hint, you can put it in your profile) and perhaps someone can suggest a place to get a battery...

Probably a Yuasa 12N9-4B battery. !2V 9 Ampere-hr battery hat fits in your space.

I just ordered a couple of batteries from Apexbattery.com, they are Westco brand and are sealed AGM and free shipping.

Does sealed mean that you do not add acid? Is the battery ready to install and charge right out of the box? I checked their site, under the Norton section they show 5 batteries from $29.95 to $89.95, which one did you get?
Thanks!
Kurt

Kurt, I bought the Westco 12V14L-B for between $80-$90, I looked for the receipt and cannot locate it, but keep in mind I have the 75' MKIII with the electric start. I bought it on the recommendation of forum member L.A.B and have been very satisfied. It is a dry battery or acid free and is ready to go after a charge. I am going to order the Westco M-12V12-B for my Hinckley Bonnie in the next few days.
