These were the heavy duty chromed ones. Any experience? Who makes them/buy from?
After only 2000 miles

Here is a drain hole for condensation... one side will drain, the other will not. If only they'd put TWO, 180 degrees apart.

Header pipes clamped to engine cradle maybe too rigid?
Hehehe, that's one possibility. Touche'
However, the previous muffs with WELDED, not brazed construction held up well. Not looking to lay blame here.
You have a set from Feked, right?

I think mine are Toga and they have held up but I don't do the miles anymore. And less every year. What got my old mufflers was cat spray!

Bob,

Is that your bike? If it is that sucks! They were good looking pipes, and they sounded sweet. I was sitting at the picnic table one morning admiring them, (and the rest of your bike)
Peteu
Hi Pete, I remember meeting you. They looked very good. The old Commando was my "campground golf cart" for the weekend"

New "plain brown wrapper" sold by Commando Specialties.
Made in Taiwan. Welded, not brazed construction. Will report back.

If brazing was good enough for Colin Seeley it's good enough for me.

All I'm seeing in those photos is a structural failure which is most likely due to high cycle fatigue.

Make sure you understand and take into consideration Joint Design when discussion brazing versus welding. It matters. A lot.
Best regards.

Your silencer didn't just fail across the brazing, did it?
Now is your opportunity to explain (a) my ignorance and (b) your superior knowledge of brazing/bronze welding and normal welding, since it matters so much.
I'm sorry your £40 silencer failed, incidentally.

I fold my tent.

To be clear, I'm just looking to hear from some who've bought them. How they've held up. They sat on my shelf 2 years, so not even asking the vendor for help. I'm "self insured" regarding stuff like that.
I liked the LOOKS, but, if others have had longevity issues, I won't persue it.
It looks like they didn't sell a lot anyway...:p, so my sample base may have no value.

This may be slightly off topic but
how’s business (repair and set up industrial equipment if I remember correctly)?
Welded anything for the aerospace segment lately?

Over polished perhaps, thus thinning the material ?

Perhaps seamed type is best way to ensure avoiding this ?

Thank you for pointing out the drain hole. I will be sure to have a look at my pipes in this regard.
I never knew that there was a drain hole.Learn something every day!
