They're all screw on now. I replaced mine with a monza style cap as many others have done. It took a bit of fettling to get the seal right so it doesn't weep a little when the tank is full.

Just swap fuel pump and mount the tank is correct, plus rubber mount and vent tube (there's only one at the alluminum tank where there are two at the stock one). Be careful with the brass screws at the vent they are sensible, I broke one... Did the swap already several times. The screws at the front on the alluminum tank might be a bit further apart, but the mounts beyond are flexible enough.

Hi Ian
Wondering what you did to get the Monza cap tight.
I wanted the cap straight in riding direction and glued it to the tank, but wasn't tight. Saw that you mounted the cap crosswise...

How does the Monza style cap attach to the aluminum tank? You mean you welded it on? Can you provide a picture please?
Thank you.
Scott

It is just screwed (2.5")

Mine is just mounted in the orientation that provides the best seal and then rotated to the closest increment of 90 degrees if that makes sense. Screwing it on to tight makes it as prone to leak as not doing it up tight enough. But it was only an issue when the tank is filled to the top.

Hi Ian
Allow me one more question. Did you have to seal the ventilation hole in the cap or is the cap tight without sealing this one?
Thanks, Raphi

Lately, I did seal the little vent hole in the Monza cap and now there is no more spilling of fuel anymore even if tank is filled up to the top: 17 litres +

Have fun, Raphi

Isn't the vent needed in order to allow fuel to egress the tank?

There is a tube for ventilation inside the tank...

Gotcha.

Then what was the hole in the cap for?

Hi Voodoo,

Would love to see some photos of the polished components you have fitted, in particular the rear hanger plates and pegs etc.

Best regards.
