EV drawbacks

“ only one foot square…”
How would you like to be swimming and get hit with a one foot square piece of jagged fiberglass..
Or hit one with your recreational boat or work boat. The knee jerk jump in all at once with both feet endeavors always manage to come back and bite em' in the ass and Joe Taxpayer gets hosed twice on the same project.

I see common sense has prevailed in Wales and the blanket 20mph limit in suburban areas has reverted back to 30mph
It only cost 34 million
So not too bad then!
new FM of Wales was talking about this on the radio this morning. Dont think its a done deal, seems that the decision making is at local council level. Presumably so that she can wash her hands of the responsibility for it and pass any controversy downwards. There are places where 20 seems reasonable, and others where there is no sense. It is also inconsistent, there is one village on the A40 where the speed limit is 40mph, a few miles along there is a similar village where the speed limit is 20mph. In practical terms, not many people take very much notice of it, if you do try and drive at 20 you will be tailgated and overtaken. And the Welsh are good at flashing oncoming drivers if the camera vans are out.

It is a shame or should I say a point of embarrassment for the Welsh politicians that “ they “ needed to introduce the 20 mph limit .. why ?

Simple really !!

If “ they “ had enforced the existing 30 mph limit the controversy would have been avoided, the biggest ever protest petition put to the welsh government would never have happened, the spending of £34 million plus a further £5 millions would still be in the coffers, etc.

If it was so important to save lives then the Welsh politicians should found be guilty of culpable homicide for the crime of not enforcing the life saving limit of 30 mph for some decades !!!

But then what would I know.

All of this has been introduced by a government has voted for an increase in politician numbers of 56% and where they wouldn’t be voted for by the public !

NOTHING to do with saving lives mate.

EVERYTHING to do downgrading the benefits of driving a car vs a bicycle / e scooter / Sinclair C5 all in the name of the green agenda.

Definitely
And Sadiq has just found £34 m behind the settee to spend on more LTNs in London
Let's all rejoice at that news and not worry about knife crime, shop lifting, rape etc

20 mph limits had already been trialled and tested, study said it made no difference. Speeding drivers still over speeded but at 1.6 MPH slower (so 60mph became 58.4mph), most drivers did reduce speed again by very small amount but there was no reduction in injuries as the pedestrians felt safer and took more risks.

Hidden away

No significant change in short term in collisions and casualties in the majority of case studies

But still they blundered on.

And that’s exactly what you see on the roads… pedestrians, and cyclists, and other car drivers all feel so much safer in 20mph zones that they simply step out / pull out without looking.

Why? Because they feel that the traffic is travelling slow enough to brake and avoid them.

This is not conscious, it’s all a subconscious process.

Anyone who doubts it, just ask yourself “what would pedestrian behaviour be like if this was a 70mph zone”?

Answer… NO ONE would be stepping / pulling out without very carefully checking both ways first !!

Hilarious…

The cycling race the ‘Junior Tour of Wales’ has had to have several sections re routed as it originally passed through some 20mph zones and the support vehicles (restricted to 20mph) would not keep up with the cyclists who can merrily exceed 20mph to their hearts content !!
