Empty OIL TANK Help needed

I can remember taking off leaving the prop stand down and doing the pogo pretty soon. It was amazing the bike didn't flip me, all I felt was a bump and then I knew..... I don't think I've done it since, but give me time. Now we need a thread on the prop stand lamp.

On like my 3rd day ever on a Cdo, I was puttering about running speed on short cut pasture to a drive way and noticed grass parting a few feet in front of bike, thinking some animal, then saw a dark long shape thinking 'dang fastest Coach Whip Racer snake I'd seen', till .5 sec later realized it was a stick and better stop but .3 sec later stick hung side stand spring extending stand fully forward, you know what happened ~.1 sec after that. Next Peel side stand is behind the primary with pivot and spring above frame tube. Our gas tanks could sure use a sight glass, almost as much as our oil tanks as past Peel did.

Just in case searunner doesn't know where that safety spring belongs:

The reason it does not get mentioned in 'the manual' is because it isn't a standard Norton part.

From looking at the pictures of your motorcycle I noticed that you may have a mix match of carburetors. The left hand carburetor has an early type tickler on it while the right hand is correct for a 1974 Norton. I would suggest removing both carburetors and checking to see if they are both 32mm, check to see if they have the correct slides and see if the needles and jets are all correct. One other thing to check is to see if the spray tube in the carburetors are the step-type (correct for an 850 Commando).

Also I noticed that the heat insulator is supposed to go between the head and the intake tube. On your bike it is between the intake tube and the carburetor.I would say it is well worth checking if they are the right size for your motorcycle as well.

The carburetor banjos probably work ok, its just that I would use 180 degree banjos maybe 150 degree instead of what you have.
