I am finding it difficult to find a 14 tooth sprag clutch part no and how to order one from s://tinyurl.com/y5ng97ps. Any help you could give me to contact the seller or to actually order one would be appreciated.

Hi Wortorn.

Yes if i get the 14 tooth sprag clutch that's the only part i need to buy but i don't no that part No. I would like to buy two 14 tooth sprag bearings but don't know how to go about that. Which company did you buy them from and can i order from them and pay them direct. Do you know what payment method they use. I want to buy two to have in stock for when mine needs replacing.

Many thanks
ELLIS

Ellis, the sprags I've ordered and received from the link above are all 18 Tooth.
There's no mention of 14 tooth being available.
The 18 Tooth sprag went right into the original slightly beat up parts and has been working great for awhile now.
I can't say for sure that this will work for you.

Hi Glen.

Thanks for that information. I think for the time being i will stick with the 14 tooth sprag which is working perfectly, and when it eventually destroys its self then i will change to the 18 tooth. I am rubbish when it comes to computers so is there an easy way to order the sprags?

Thanks again

Ellis

I believe AliExpress is an online only setup so it's going to require ordering via computer.
It was pretty straightforward to do.

Aliexpress has a phone app, probably not going to help but you may have a teenager who has a phone and cannot use a PC. I bought one for an Aprilia RSV 1000, £7 instead of £70.

I just ordered one of these sprags after reading this thread. Not exactly the simplest of sites. Took a while to get my phone # in a format that it would accept and wouldn't let you leave it blank. I recently replaced mine with a $100 +/- one when I found the old one had to tooth loose while replacing my clutch seal. My starter works like charm but thought I'd get a backup. Thanks for posting the link

Thanks guys i will get my grandson on the case. Doesn't help when you are getting older and new technology is getting newer.

Cheers

Got my Chinese sprag bearing 06.4733 replacement, seems to be built better , fit right in, the cages seem to be more robust , and of course more rollers

What are they for, and what doesn't work with the OEM?
They are starter drive parts for a MK3, one stock non Chinese bearing didn't one way slip , and I don't know why. The Chinese one seems to be good

Thanks to the help from this forum, I installed a Chinese sprag combined with a Dyno Dave starter plus cables, and my bike has started on the button every time, over the last few months.
The mating surfaces for the contact area of the sprag had minor signs of wear, but I figure that the price of the occasional sprag is worth seeing how it goes, versus the replacing more expensive items. So far has been going very well and I appreciate the info about the alternative. I will probably get another to have on the shelf, should this one eventually fail.

My 2 18 tooth units came in from Ali Express fast from China and cheap. My present spragg works well so I'll wait until it fails then replace. Again I'm waiting on the hardened sprocket system to be offered.

Also as an aside , my sprag using the Dyno Dave starter just spins when very cold, no engagement. Any ambient air temp above 15 Celcius she engages fine and spins over really well. Using 20W50 oil multigrade. Big cables, Big Odyssey battery. Being a 76 Canadian model MK111 in the frozen north this will limit my season. Ideas ?

Just goes to show that they can be idiosyncratic, as mine with a similar set up (Motobatt 240cca battery), seems to spin in all weather (down to 5 Celsius), although have yet to try it when sitting overnight outside in a NZ frost/winter.

Lucky. Are you using the super fast D.D. starter or Prestolite ?
