Commando Camshaft identification...

Hi, I will be stripping down a previous Mick Hemmings built 850 Commando engine (Road Race) which has never been run. Should the cams have I.D markings on them, from memory I think Mick used the Peter Williams PW3 cams in these builds, and I am unfamiliar with the timing process for them.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

The simplest way would be to note the timing marks before removing the timing chain/gears and replace them in the same positions

You could degree the cam before disassembly, this will help you ID the cam and give reference for reassembly:

I have a PW3 from Mick and the cams he supplied have MH and a number (4 digits on mine). He used to have a list of how he supplied each one to that he checked against the number
