Ah shucks, some guys just like to spend on their gals and I'm one of em. Besides the definitive engagement consistency - [that is a total NON ISSUE- until playing on edges of traction on hi power or very low power] I want the security of no cable to break, as they do time to time for me and my buddy out here. Seasoned long distance Cdo'rs route a 2nd cable next to 1st to carry more compactly and switch out quicker. I only want this for a very special, not my nice as can be factory Combat.

The hydraulic clutch makes things a bit easier and provides more consistency, set and forget; sort of like the difference between 3 Buck Chuck and a Napa Valley pedigree; they can be comparable, they both get you there, price/performance is a personal measurement.

A word of caution for 750 owners. If you're relatively new to Commandos you may not know the clutch center on the 750 is not hardened as are the 850s. Any fiction plate other than the original surflex will notch the splines even faster with resulting disengagement problems. Barnett plates such as what CNW is offering have been problematic in the past on these softer centers. The fix is easy enough, just expensive...get an 850 clutch center.

Probably the best and cheapest solution to clutch drag is Dave's clutch seal as mentioned. Clean up the plates, install the seal and if the clutch center isn't too notched the problem goes away for good....as long as you don't install Barnett or bronze plates.

Thank you Dave for leanring me another fairly important 750 detail. An unusual circumstance where factory issue parts are best in long run. I've had a factory Combat since '06 but only ~1000 miles d/t deer strikes and bad engine parts letting go just cruising easy so didn't get much chance to experience clutch stuck issues.
On my 1st Combat it was worn out so bad and I was led into the upgrade path I put in Dreer belt drive and Barnett plates with DynDave's seal and ran ATF in gear box so missed out again on long term 750 clutch issues.

BTW I called Barnett about ATF exposure such as running ATF in primary- they told me they recommend to wet new plates good in ATF then wipe off to thin film on first use to prevent plate chatter ridging on initial break in.

I"ve got both my 750's to have easy fine clutch action for good intervals and will stick with pure stock set up on Trixie but Ms Peel is special excessive effort to eliminate everything really Norton but the isolastics/chassis and to help keep the likes of Jim Comstock, JIm Schmidt and CNW, Steve Maney and others in good business support.
