Politicians are worse than freeloaders. You can refuse the freeloader. Try that with the law!

Nah, politicians are a gang, criminals running a protection racket leeching off society, gaslighting everyone with BS about helping and protecting. Yeah, some actually have good intentions but all in all they are a class of parasites we can do with out
 
In life, some things are what they are. In a democracy, you can shape your own future. Politicians are like any other blood-sucking insect, you can lead them into a corner and swat them.
 
Brexit is something which had to happen. For the Conservatives, it will always be win-win. They will shape it to fit their aims. You can do all the crying and breast beating, what will happen is always pre-determined. When neoliberalism was introduced, it had already been thought through. Brexit is not an unintended consequence, it is almost certainly an expected response. In the 1970s, the GATT meetings in Brazil were about preventing quality issues from becoming barriers to trade. Quality is the only basis on which western democracies can compete and still justify their wages and prices structure.

It hasn’t happened yet and the second statement might, just might kill the Tory party off- a lot has happened since – PM May will resign in June 9th and there are at the time of righting this 10 candidates are jockeying to be voted in to replace her at no 10.
As for the Euro elections - out of nowhere, as it didn’t even exist 6 weeks ago Nigel Farage's New Brexit Party won most seats in the ENGLISH elections – I put that in capital letters as the Brexit party did not contest the Irish EEC election.
Without Nigel Farage leading it, his former UKIP party is dead in the water!


Who won the most UK seats?

Nigel Farage's Brexit Party won the elections.

The Brexit Party won 29 seats, Labour had 10 and the Tories had a dismal four.

The Greens - who also enjoyed a boost from pro-EU voters - were on seven, up from three in 2014.

The Lib Dems bagged 16 seats.

The SNP gained three seats, and Plaid Cymru and DUP got one each.

Mr Farage, who was elected for his new party in the South East, said: "History has been made. This is just the beginning."


In a warning to the Westminster parties, he said: "If we don't leave on October 31 then the scores you have seen for the Brexit Party today will be repeated in a general election, and we are getting ready for it."

Mr Farage repeated his demand for the Brexit Party to be involved in the negotiations ahead of the Halloween deadline.

In Australia, most of us seem to be simply bemused by Brexit, and do not see that we have a similar problem with the effect of free trade on our industries, wages and social conditions. Australia has changed dramatically in the last ten years. Once upon a time, a young person could get a job and advance themselves by studying - not any more. These days they need wealthy parents.
 
Interesting that Brexit might spell the end for the conservatives. That might be very good. In Australia, we are facing another horrendous three years of their cynicism. One thing which has been very apparent - media coverage of Murdoch's phone hacking was minimal in Australia. Ed Miliband was never mentioned.
Murdoch has just helped the conservatives get elected again in Australia. I think the British worker is politically smarter.

Back in the Menzies era, many of our union people were British ex-pats. The reason seemed to be that after working in the UK, they nearly had a bloody fit when they saw what our guys were copping from their employers. Now it is even worse, since our workforce has become casualised and the unions crushed by the conservatives. Profits and prices are up and we have wage stagnation.
 
A colleague and I were discussing the sorry state of affairs in relation to our politics and he shared this analogy for Brexit, it resonated with me.

Britain joins the common market (EU) and after a few years all members agree to celebrate unity by contributing the ingredients for making a cake.
Britain: we will supply the eggs!
The cake is made and 27 of the members say “how do you like our cake.”
Britain: Please can we have our eggs back...
 
Yup , eggs back , plus some criticism of a Chef that wasn’t involved, thrown in ....

You make a small, but very significant error there sir when you say “Britain joins the common market (EU)”

The common market was the common market. The EU is the EU. They are entirely different things.

Here’s another version:

Britain votes to join the common market.

All members work together towards the goal of a common market for member countries.

After a few years, this goal changes to a goal of ‘ever greater unity’ and central federal control over sovereign states. The changes are small, gradual, incremental. But cumulatively they are massively fundamental / principle changes. No one has ever voted on the individual changes, never mind the fundamental / principle changes.

Britain says “we don’t like this, this has become something entirely different to what we voted for, we’d like to suggest some changes”. The 27 other states tell the British leader to “f*ck off, we’re not changing anything” and he goes home empty handed, humiliated, and defeated.

Faced with membership of a federal agenda they did not want, and will not change, the British public reluctantly vote to leave.

The 27 other states all blame lying British politicians and an uneducated racist British public.

No one... NO ONE... asks why nearly 18 million people in the EUs second largest economy felt this way.
 
There were a few other rejections of a Federal Europe before, they were batted away by either rerunning them until they got the answer they wanted or by changing the name, e.g. The Constitution of Europe when rejected by the French and the Dutch was amended slightly and became the Treaty of Lisbon and instead made the changes to existing Treaties so less need for referendums from voters.
 
It’s about local control. That theme also is why Trump remains ascendant. That theme is what the French yellow vests are about too.

Centralization is a tendency of all government and all bureaucracy simply because it makes it easier to control your turf.

The controllers also prefer to have more concentrated constituencies, or less entities, to control. This is why consolidation of political units, and corporatism, is preferred by the centralizers. The EU and globalism exemplify this preference of big government

My point, simply made, was that we are so intrinsically linked to the EU that extracting ourselves from it could prove to be impossible - just like trying to retrieve the eggs from a baked cake!
I still think we should leave but fear that it may never happen.
 
Seems that most people arent engaged with the facts in Brexit or in any election. They have their "team" and they nail their flag to it.
Its based on everything but facts. People seem to think they are born into a viewpoint and change is rare.

Ahhh, in that context, I fully agree with you.

And FWIW, I did NOT vote to leave. But if we do not leave after A) a clear democratic decision to do so and B) the utterly derisory behaviour of the ‘EU elite’ after doing so, I will be f*cking livid !

Just take your part of the cake, do it fast, don't tolerate argument about how much, take some and be gone. Dare them to mug you as you turn your back to go out the door.
 
The globalists want two things .....

1. They want one world government
2. They want to be the ones who control that government

Who of you would be comfortable with that? It would be "Soylent Green" on steroids.

I support Brexit because it is a detriment to the globalist agenda, as is Trump, and the Yellow Vests.

Here in the US, the globalists have gotten control of our school agendas, deriding nationalism, patriotism, the founding Fathers, and supporting open borders, multiculturalism, all of which is a plan to make our young people more receptive to a "New World Order".

I suppose you can find similar instances on the other side of the pond.

President Macron is making himself visible, approachable etc... He is trying to be the peacemaker between Iran and the USA, China and the EU ....
He is positioning himself to be the first president of the United States of Europe.

Absolutely correct.
That is what I've been saying for years before the joke referendum.
It's hard to believe that even Thatcher stood up to these Euro despots.
Germany just can't help wanting to run Europe, it will never change.
We need to get out before the whole plot goes tits up.
