The U.S. has tax cut itself into the poor house. $23 trillion debt and climbing at the rate of a rocket. Politicians promising tax cuts to get elected. The United States goes further into debt at the rate of more than $45,000 per second.

The American Republic has been replaced by a globalist oligarchy who want two things ..... 1) they want a one world government, and 2) they want to control it. Any politician, or rare statesman, who rises to interfere with their goals is vilified, slandered, ridiculed, and if need be, accused of all manner of moral turpitudes. This started with Thomas Jefferson in the election of 1800, and is in practice today.

The politics of all the Western Nations are so similarly manipulated, "only the names have been changed".

Tax cuts and spending are not mutually exclusive. In fact, they are joined at the hip.
 
There are two economic conditions - boom and bust. Tax and spend during a boom is not as appropriate in a boom as it is in a bust, if there is a large wealth disparity. Trickle-down economics are bullshit. Those who have it either keep it or spend it elsewhere.

Where "elsewhere" is, depends very much on tax laws.

Example: Not too long ago (mid 90's), our govt sought fit to sock it to the rich, by imposing a 15% luxury tax on items such as small aircraft, yatchs, fur coats, diamond rings, etc. Taxes always have consequences. In this example, the rich took to buying their small aircraft in Brazil, yatchs in SE. Asia, and for politically correct reasons gave up fur coats. The result ...... Cessna quit making small aircraft, the four yatch manufacturers on the west coast shut down, and Canadian mink ranches went bust. The US govt lost payroll taxes on all those formally employed by the yatch builders, and taxes on all who partially earned a living from the wages of those now unemployed yatch builders. We can only hope Cessna put their small aircraft workers to building G5's, and the mink ranchers ?..... well, the animal rights advocates applaud their demise, but somewhere, someone's income was lost, and with it govt revenue.

The bottom line ..... The US Govt lost more revenue as a result of this tax than it collected, because trickle down took the money offshore, and that loss is hardly bulls##t.

And, if anyone thinks the loss of 250 jobs (The payroll of the four yatch mfgrs), is insignificant to the economy, consider this true story of which I personally experienced:

A small fireworks company with 2 dozen employees was being hounded out of business. I sensed most people in town were in favor of this. The owner of the company made his payroll in 2 dollar US bills. After one day, the town was flooded with 2 dollar bills trickling down, with everyone asking "where are these two dollar bills coming from?" After two days the whole town knew from where, and after three days, the issue was dead.

I remember postal notes, coke @ 6 cents (glass, pop top) when if a nuke came through the classroom window in the 1960's it might have either USA or USSR proudly printed on the side...when an international phone call took two operators.

What I’d like to know is, who are they protesting too?

It was the U.K. electorate, by the largest margin in decades, that voted the government in. Are these people protesting against the electorate?

And can someone please give these people a lesson in how democracy works?
 
Being forced to vote is not democracy and the result does not say much for the opposition.
Democracy is the right to say we do not want either of these parties or their figureheads.

What do you think will have happened in the UK parliament as far as Brexit by next week if they have not closed up for Christmas already ?
Back to it in the new year perhaps.

It seems the plot is somewhat lost, all it was about was withdrawl from the EU and if a voted decision it would be based on a result heavy in favour, one or the other and iirc it was borderline to leave.

The best brand boots I have ever had the pleasure of wearing (1980's) ...Made in the USA today I do not know.

I suppose you are referring to the Antifa protestors. Over on this side of the pond, they seem to be an equally confused bunch. "Antifa" refers to Anti-Facist, but they themselves exhibit Fascist behavior, tactics, and ideology!

No Slick, they’re simply people who didn’t want Boris and / or the conservatives in. Which is absolutely fair enough. But when you have a democracy, and the democratic process has been followed, and unlike those elections where it was close, or it can be debated as to unfairness in the system, this was a landslide, and indisputable victory arrived at via democratic process.

I wrestle with that too. It does seem something of an oxymoron to be forced to have your say in the name of freedom and free speech. Free speech should indeed mean the freedom to choose not to speak.

Of course, those who have fought wars in the name of democracy tend to have a different view having had friends and loved ones killed in the quest.

As an elderly gent explained to me in my youth when I declared that I hadn’t voted as I didn’t support any of the parties: “no vote, no opinion”... was his polite way of telling me to shut the f**k up...!

As mentioned many times, my father was R.A.A.F in WW2 as was my step father (R.N.Z.A.F) .. I'm not sure they served for any political reason, more so for doing what needed to be done and to repel a force that liked chopping peoples heads off in conquest.
(As had happened, rape and murder in China in the 1930's)
I would be very surprised if when asked, why are you here lad, the answer was... In the name of democracy Sir, chocks away.

What government had done back in those days was send young lads over the wall or at the machine guns with no remorse, chosen cities to be bombed with the targets being civilians but that is long ago and the world learned from that.
I still remember a school mate from the 1970's who's father (Army/WW2) had served in Europe and still had then (R.I.P) nightmares of the tanks but assume based on his survival relied on stab,shoot or maim or kill over democracy.
Those millions who died got us a fresh start (once again) that we all but squandered.

My SF told me about Hiroshima from being there.
Lest we Forget, I will never forget.

Maybe some of the bums in world politics should be reminded of the sacrifice of millions.


Government is elected to represent the voice of the electorate, to run ones country in a manner beneficial to that country and its people, to be done with pride and integrity, without bias or treason.... Now think of that and think of the leaders of the world and their political parties.

Then think of the people who vote for the sake of voting.
No one said it was easy or logical.

2020 to 2025 will be interesting to say the least as far as our global direction and stability as a race.

Seriously Pete, with shoes like that the muggers in NYC would never bother you for 2 reasons.

1) If you had any money to steal, you would have used it to buy new boots

2) If they do attempt mug you, chances are they are getting a boot to the crotch area...that is steel toe'd!

Great boots man, I have a pair of chippewa's that I bought in 1984 that I still wear occasionally...

Would have gladly walked home barefoot in the snow had I the opportunity to leave both boots firmly seated in the rear ends of those kids who stabbed Tessa Majors in Morningside park last week.
