If you speak to Norman White, he will go for 18" front & back, 100X90 front & 120X80 back, BT45's, but would prefer a WM4 on the back. He can also build your wheels for you, he did a good job on mine & you can also discuss things with him." Good to know Flo, I'd been looking at the Norman White website recently, Good to here some feedback. I'm not ready to drop the money on the wheels yet but good to know just the same, Cj

hi there, they are indeed very good stuff. I've actually sent a mail to the Borrani Co to ask if they still have any rims left, and they told me to get in contact with these guys as they make very good copies (nope they are NOT original Borranis, but they look 100% like them).
here is a pic of the drilling pattern -they do not have undrilled stuff (unfortunately).

(I have a 450 Duke too, but so far is split in boxes)

so, apparently it was too late to change to excel, and Central Wheel Components had already prepared my wheels w Morad Akront when I posted the last messages.
I have to say that after the horror stories about these rims I am very happy. Probably CWC selects the best pieces, but the wheels I just got are 1st quality. Welding is invisible. Very good job I reckon.

see the welding at the top. but you can only notice if you look at the inner part. there is nothing that tells you the welding is there on the side...]

Not Borrani but very similar and the spokes are identical to Buchanans with out the "B" stamped on the head and they have a slightly higher polish, thats my Ebay ad btw.

I think Orsonoce was specifically looking for Borranis until he gave up.

Probably, but I've had guys ask me if I had Borrani rims thinking that Borrani was the only manufacturer of this style of rim. I had my rims manufactured with specific request that they not have any markings on them, you would be surprised at the amount of requests asking to stamp the rims Dunlop, I refuse of course. some ask for
the bonus Akront rim decals, I dont know what they do with the rim decals.

I'm a bit late to be chiming in on this, but I've built a few Borrani rims, and I'm in the middle of building some Morads from CWC for the Commando and Dominator- they're stamped Akront Morad incidentally.
Yes they've all got a noticeable discontinuity where they're welded, including the Borranis ('Genuine' 4777s, apparently worth money  )
My take is the Morads are entirely acceptable based on the 3 I've done so far, and the Borranis are a bit better, but no way are they perfect!

I also do a lot of wheel building, I build wheels with flanged rims daily, nothing else only flanged rims. the best flanged rims are Takasago followed by D.I.D, after that its much for muchness, I spoke to CWC regarding big spoke angles for extra large hubs and big offsets, I was quite astonished at how they do their rims, their rim suppliers do not supply them with rims to suit odd or rare applications like TZ260mm brake etc, they do them for order only, its taken me 2 years to get a rim manufacturer to make rims specifically for Commando front disc and also the big TZ brake with a big vertical spoke angle, I know of no other rim supplier who has these rims on the shelf , even Buchanans .
