Actually, I realised that in the same thread I snipped that picture, Tony had kindly provided larger clearer sections...
No problem at all Dave. It looks as though you are on the right path. Keep us posted. The weather is the same here unfortunatelyThank you so much gents, very much appreciated. I tried testing the coil without success. However I did manage to check that the pulse voltage was on both sides as per the video that you sent and all is good there so have ordered a replacement Bosch coil for £40 , so not to bad cost wise. Will fit it and let you know the outcome. Weather is awful here at the moment so not missing out on much riding thank you again. Dave
That’s great news Dave. Fingers crossed it’s ok now.Hi all, update for you. it appears I had 2 problems. I think one coil was bad but also the plug female connectors were not a good fit on the male pins on the coil. Bike is now running on both cylinders will need to go for a ride tomorrow to see if it still cuts out.
Will let you know. Thank you everyone for your help, really is appreciatedThat’s great news Dave. Fingers crossed it’s ok now.
Do you mean the revs stay up or the cables are holding the throttle open a bit?Actually while I’m on here , the throttle does not return fully to idle
Cables leaving throttle open a bitDo you mean the revs stay up or the cables are holding the throttle open a bit?
One other thing I meant to mention about your original issue ( cutting out) does your bike have the original blue relays? If so they are know to cause issues, so maybe your fuel pump relay is faulty.
There are adjusters above the throttle pulley on the right of the throttle bodies.Cables leaving throttle open a bit
No , all the relays are black. I realised while messing around with the coils that they weren’t bolted to the bracket (the bolt was missing) so I don’t suppose that helped!
Hi Dave , Download the service manual. There are adjusters above the throttle pulley on the right of the throttle bodies.
See if the throttle body cable wheel is returning to the stop screw .Actually while I’m on here , the throttle does not return fully to idle
Hi Dave , Any chance you can take it to Stu ? Before you get too frustrated . This might be the TPS ?Hi All, got throttle sorted but broken down AGAIN!!!! Running on both cylinders but bogs down and then cuts out if I try to rev. Waiting for recovery

Got back home and thought I would check relays and fuses. I’m sure the photo is not correct. Should there not be a female connection in the empty space? Manual says it’s the ignition/ coil fuse
Couldn't find anything in least bit suspicious. I swapped relays around so that the main beam relay replaced first the ignition relay and then the fuel relay. Found the clutch switch wires loose in the headlamp. Made no difference. Ran around my village with a splutter out every 10-20 seconds.
I have given up any scientific approach and ordered a replacement genuine Bosch coil. We shall see if this cures the problem.

Cliffa , Good Idea .Hi Dave, sounds like you’ve had quite a day, (sorry to hear). Was there a fuse in that slot?
It has been known for those connectors to break, and also for them not to be “latched” into the fuse box, so back out and lose connectivity.
Have a look here, and you can see a broken connector.

I'm still inclined to believe its not the coil or a sensor but more likely a loose or broken connector. Bike on a stand running with as much wiring exposed as...
Can you see behind the fuse box?
My bike is a 2011 version, so hopefully has the same fuse box. I’ll take a look in the morning and see if there should be a fuse there.
Whereabouts in the U.K. Are you?
Hi Cliffa , yes there was a fuse in there. The symptoms I have had would be explained by the fuse as you described above. Going to take the fuse box apart now and see if the connector is there.Hi Dave, sounds like you’ve had quite a day, (sorry to hear). Was there a fuse in that slot?

In that case it seems likely to be the culprit. Do you still want me to have a look at mine?Hi Cliffa , yes there was a fuse in there. The symptoms I have had would be explained by the fuse as you described above. Going to take the fuse box apart now and see if the connector is there.
I’m near Gatwick airport , southern England
