Bike cutting out

Actually, I realised that in the same thread I snipped that picture, Tony had kindly provided larger clearer sections...

Thank you so much gents, very much appreciated. I tried testing the coil without success. However I did manage to check that the pulse voltage was on both sides as per the video that you sent and all is good there so have ordered a replacement Bosch coil for £40 , so not to bad cost wise. Will fit it and let you know the outcome. Weather is awful here at the moment so not missing out on much riding 😀 thank you again. Dave

No problem at all Dave. It looks as though you are on the right path. Keep us posted. The weather is the same here unfortunately :(

Hi all, update for you. it appears I had 2 problems. I think one coil was bad but also the plug female connectors were not a good fit on the male pins on the coil. Bike is now running on both cylinders 😀 will need to go for a ride tomorrow to see if it still cuts out.

That’s great news Dave. Fingers crossed it’s ok now.

Actually while I’m on here , the throttle does not return fully to idle 😀
Do you mean the revs stay up or the cables are holding the throttle open a bit?

One other thing I meant to mention about your original issue ( cutting out) does your bike have the original blue relays? If so they are know to cause issues, so maybe your fuel pump relay is faulty.

Cables leaving throttle open a bit
No , all the relays are black. I realised while messing around with the coils that they weren’t bolted to the bracket (the bolt was missing) so I don’t suppose that helped!

There are adjusters above the throttle pulley on the right of the throttle bodies.

Hi All, got throttle sorted but broken down AGAIN!!!! Running on both cylinders but bogs down and then cuts out if I try to rev. Waiting for recovery ☹️☹️☹️

Hi Dave , Any chance you can take it to Stu ? Before you get too frustrated . This might be the TPS ?

Got back home and thought I would check relays and fuses. I’m sure the photo is not correct. Should there not be a female connection in the empty space? Manual says it’s the ignition/ coil fuse

Hi Dave, sounds like you’ve had quite a day, (sorry to hear). Was there a fuse in that slot?

It has been known for those connectors to break, and also for them not to be “latched” into the fuse box, so back out and lose connectivity.
Have a look here, and you can see a broken connector.

Can you see behind the fuse box?

My bike is a 2011 version, so hopefully has the same fuse box. I’ll take a look in the morning and see if there should be a fuse there.

Whereabouts in the U.K. Are you?

Hi Cliffa , yes there was a fuse in there. The symptoms I have had would be explained by the fuse as you described above. Going to take the fuse box apart now and see if the connector is there.
I’m near Gatwick airport , southern England

In that case it seems likely to be the culprit. Do you still want me to have a look at mine?

If the connector has broken off, you should be able to get a complete fuse box from EBay or similar. They are pretty cheap, and you’ll have some spares.

Hi Cliffa, i can’t fine any loose wires behind the fuse box but if I flip the box so to speak that fuse is listed as oxygen sensor and the one opposite is the coil pack which had blow, I replaced the fuse but bike still won’t rev. Ticked over fine for about 20 secs then stalled and same problem as before now☹️☹️
