Belt Primary ID & Introduction

My apologies for picture posting failure. Thanks so much for the shared information. I did order a belt yesterday.
Can see it now, I say the belt was too tight, when things get hot things expand and in a closed case and running a dry belt, with cold adjustment you should be able to bend the belt side on to near 90o or till its not slipping teeth on the pully, but as soon as it warms up will be good, its not like a chain when adjusting a belt, I ran a RGM belt for over 3 years but now have gone back to a Triplex chain about 10 years ago my next chain will be a double row chain from the chain man, I never had any problems with running chain primary, but after 3 years running a belt I started to get problem, never broke a belt but it tried running off the front pully, even running 2 adjusters it still wanted to run off, my belts wore from 30mm to 25mm, it only happened after 3 years on the belt before I had problems.
Some say a belt is smoother running but to be honest going back to chain made no difference in smooth running, only thing is a belt kit is lighter and even lighter with an anodized alloy kit, I had both belt kits one steel and one alloy, the alloy kit will be going on my 650 Manxman cafe build running an open Commando clutch and an open primary case (no cases at all).
A chain is more forgiving than a belt in my opinion, hate to be stuck out in the middle of nowhere with a blown belt, I once had a few rollers missing off my triplex chain and still able to get home and didn't even know they were sitting on the bottom of the case till I did a clutch service.

I am with Baz the AT10 belts are very different to the HDTM8 type belt. You will never get it to 90 degrees. You need it loose enough not to slip on the clutch when kicking it over. Let the bike warm up & see how tight the belt gets. It's an eye opener.

Glad you are finding time to post some Chris. More useful advice is always helpful on this site.

That right at no slip on kick over adjustment is what works with the RGM belt clutch. The 90 degree twist is nonsense for an AT10 belt. It can be twisted to 90 degrees with enough force if loose enough, but the belt will slip a few teeth before catching on kick over and slip badly under acceleration. Any slip on kick over is a recipe for a push home if close enough or a trailer ride. Can also be nursed home (I had to do it on a test run) but the noise and feel of an overly loose belt is unbelievably annoying and a disaster waiting to happen.

Also I would never run a AT10 belt in a wet Norton primary myself. Wrong application to me.
