Basket Case Potential Value?

Missing crankcase and flywheel would be a bigee. Cylinder and head condition would be the next concern
Thanks for noticing that biggie one.
Almost looks like the seller is ditching stuff he can't much use anymore . But I'm willing to go to Guelph , it's a lovely town downtown , just to look it over. I would bring half that amount in cash and peel it off in front of owner and see his response. Cash talks. If A . and I are interested in this basically pile of parts of course. Let's see.

Point has been made about the market going forward. Add in the parts cost situation. Put the two together, add in the availability of good finished machines increasing not decreasing and I'd say
uh uh.

Add says good crank and rods . Also a fresh 2nd. oversize rebore and pistons.
It also says price is firm , serious enquiries.
Thanks Tornado for providing the Kijiji Link.

Back in the day when I sold parts from the wrecks in Pokes basements The Boss insisted that the bikes were worth more in pieces than together. He would know. That sustained the business for many years. So on offer, it looks to me, is a pile of parts that if put together might be worth less than the pile we see. I seem to be commenting on the obvious.

Very true. I think the seller knows this and is clearing out. The Kijiji add has been up for 25 days now. No flexibility on price so ... I look for good value too.
Personally I would only be interested in the tank , frame , gearboxes.
Don't need a mismatched project.
I have an older friend here in T.O. that recently offered me a 73 850 with points , in perfect Org. Pacific Blue , totally original running condition for $5500 Cdn. , Starts up and runs well on first kick.
Life's a dilemma I know.
Nowadays I only buy new upgraded parts , try to support Mike and Nim and Shelley of Walridge motors as a priority , then other sellers of.

I enjoy a challenge and or a project but, Buy the $5500!! You know you will have more then $2000 in the "Project" bike. Winter is time for project, in my opinion, but years of projects has shown me time ridding is more enjoyable.

You can always get rid of some time by riding. Just had a great ride in clear 8 C. Nov. weather to the wine store n' back. Don't worry she's covered up for the evening. Tomorrow another ride !

If that's the metal flake blue I've seen up close and personal, I'll take two please! My dream colour for Norton :-)

It is. Paint is original and lovely. 20 ,000 kms. , so it would need new tires , carbs , battery , rubber bits, fresh lubings n' oils. Toronto west in a garage many years. He's more into a sports car now , a Miata.

Might be all miss match parts but if you wanted to replace the parts with the right parts all the parts there are worth money and if you sold everything in parts I am sure you be way ahead in what you paid for the whole lot as what I see there is money to be made whether building a mis match bike or in the parts alone, but of course prices are different in my part of the world and CAD$$$ is around the same as our AUS$$$, I would still buy it if I had the chance even if I didn't put it back together as I say there is money to be made whichever way you go.
I never buy motorcycles to make money, and I do not work on them to make money. As you get older, the most difficult thing in your life becomes keeping the urge. Money-motivation is not part of my life. A heap of parts is of no value to me, unless it is the complete product of a dismantled motorcycle. If all the parts are there and come from the same bike, they are worth the asking price.

I must say that your post is spot on. Probably just because I'm now old and have a pile of spares that I will not live long enough to put to use.

Uh, beg your pardon if this has already been posted, but as for spares and projects this sadly fits right in. Like most of us, I love this old sh_t but it does seem late in the day to acquire and flog.

Well Al your bike is a bitsa at lease these parts are all Norton and have value, I could build a great bike out of all those parts and have a good rider in the end or keep the bits that I could use and then sell the rest, there is a use for everything and if it help someone to restore a Norton with spare bits then I can't see the problem, in Aus go to any swap meets and Norton parts sell real quick.

A month has gone by so likely AD expired time wise .
I did not bite .
Seller had stated firm price and serious inquiries only .
True that, but experience has taught me to take those kind of statements in on-line posts with a bit of skepticism. Esp if AD has been up a while.
