LETS HOPE THERE IS A CLASSIC BIKE OWNER IN THE POLICE FORCE LOOKING OVER THINGS. TROUBLE IS, THE PUSSY DO GOODERS THINK ALL CRIM'S SHOULD BE TREATED WITH MORE RESPECT THAN US LAW ABIDERS.

Thanks Dereck.
Seems the power of the inet and social media prevailed and the van hadnt got out of town, another Commando owner who was aware of the inet coverage, spotted the van very close to the scene of the crime followed it while ringing the cops and waited at a distance until cops pulled the vehicle over.
Driver/one of thieves is in custody , he maintains he doesnt have the bike but MAY know its where abouts, heres hoping he coughs up.
If they release him, there will not doubt be interested parties that will help jog his memory as to the address!!!
NZ and Tauranga is a small place in the real world !!!

Thanks for all the comments.
Regards Mike

Hello, That was me, I have sent you a PM here as I couldn't find any other way to get hold of you. I asked Sunlive to pass on my contact, but haven't heard from you...so I imagine they invoked the privacy act and all its stupidity.
cheers
Craig

I have just spoken to Craig who had the foresight to follow the van that was used to lift my bike.
Craig has also given further info regarding the possible whereabouts of the bike.
Watch this space.
He joined this site just to get hold of me.
So much appreciated.
Thanks and regards Mike

Awesome work Craig!
Hopefully your quick thinking and actions lead to Mike getting his bike back soon.

Great to hear that some of the general public in the area at the time had the nounce to record details of the vehicle and people involved too. Pity they weren't stopped at the time though.

Will the offender be getting a un-welcoming party at court on Friday?

Really hope you get it back!!
And I know the awfull feeling all too well, had my Norton stolen in Papatoetoe, way back in 84, bad days as Iain said, had it since new.
And well done, Craig!

Thanks to Craig and his quest for justice, the second offender is being 'turned over' by the law as we speak, a third offender has admitted to riding my bike.
Watch this space !!!
Regards Mike

Lets hope the 3 culprits get at least 12 months working in a P D GANG. That will piss them off to have to give up every Saturday doing manual labour. Might do some good for the community for a change.

I hope they're all feeling pretty damn stupid by now – I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for good news of the bike itself! I have my own reasons to be thankful for watchful neighbours and strangers, but if only all such thefts were pursued like this ...

My wyfes beautiful little Kawasaki 440 was stolen from our charity fundraiser bike show; we never got it back.

I often wonder what I'd do to the thief/thieves if I caught them...

(although I'd rather have the bike back)

sorry to get off track Mike, I remember Comnoz had his offroad bikes stolen sometime back, did he find them?

Awesome news! I hear that the bike was recovered from a central Tauranga house earlier today & is at the Tauranga Police Station to be picked up by the Mike this afternoon!

Great news. I think Craig deserves the Solid Citizen of the Year Award !

Hi Guys, yes its back home in its rightful place.
A little worse for the experience, one indicator (flasher) lens hanging by its wire, ignition barrel smashed, flat battery, registration certificate(annual sticker) gone, both seat knobs gone, Air Hawk inflatable seat that I use when doing long rides gone.
Other than than all in tact .
It sounds like it was stolen to pay a debt , changed hands at least once, possibly twice and was found in a garage belonging to the father of the last person to get their greasy hands on it.
The father knew it was stolen after reading the Bay of Plenty Times article on Monday. Sounds like it was there since the day it was stolen.
The tenacious officer who carried out most of the ground work, said he just kept shaking trees, and was pleased at what fell out!!!!
Also it was all done without one search warrant being issued, he just kept shaking trees ,asking questions and door knocking every lead.
At one stage it ended up on the marae (Maori settlement) in Bethlehem (suburb of Tauranga).
I will be posting publically names and addresses once second or third person are arrested and been before the courts.
There has been a request from many members of the motorcycle community of all types for that info!!!!
In the current climate , unless other charges and previous convictions are raised, the f&**%$# will probably only get a slap on wrist.
Will keep you updated as more comes to hand.
Craig who followed the offending van and called in the law, gets a big thank you as did the lady who took the picks of the van and the young guy running the pony rides in the school yard close to the scene of the crime that first noticed unusual activity .
Thank you to you all.
Regards Mike

The cop deserves a few rum n cokes!
