I also did a hand start on my Combat, pre restoration. If all is setup well, starting is a simple task.

With your left hand :!: that is impressive :D

I'll make a new video cold starting AFTER I get my new carbs and dial it all in.
I'm still fiddling with the bike, best so far is 3rd kick.
But I'm questioning the original carbs, and I know the timing is off.

Excellent. So the jury will be out, and I assume, so will the barbells.

I'm putting an e- start on my 74-850, just rebuilt her .10 over at 7.5:1 comp. Which unit is the best/ worst? I like the Alton , but the Norvil big brush looks better. Have bad knees or I wouldn't do it at all. Since I got ot new,my dealer told me to remove the choke slides from both carbs,( your flooding it with the tickle anyway ) and it's always been a 1-2 kicker since new. Anyone got a new one? My English bud told me the trannys were HD, he took his back four times, and I don't think he ever got it sorted. Tomaselli,Dunstall, stick with the known Norton bits and you can't go wrong.

The Norvil starter (dynodave starter) is an upgrade for the 1975 850 MkIII electric start model, it isn't a kit to convert a pre-electric start model to electric starting as the Alton kit is.

I work with a girl who has a street triple and is, according to her, the fastest thing in the county. I offered her a go on the Commando provided she could start it. She won't come near it funny old thing. It takes a special kind of woman.

I was on a ride in Norther California a few years ago, at a gas station burger joint some young modern bike guys were realy impresed that I kick started a bike when I moved it to go eat & I felt that cool old bike pride thing too Brad.. Then a girl about 50 years old & about 100 lbs road in on a very old Harley chopper about twenty feet long, got gas and then stood on the kick start, blasted that big twin to life and road off into the green hills! I didn't feel so tough anymore..

The 952 Prototype tranny was HD (Baker I believe), at least the internals. Don't know where Stuart is sourcing them from.

You believe correctly. Kenny did use the Baker gearset in a custom shell made by his go-to machine shop guy. Pictures of gearset and shell below.

There is one made by a French company, the kit looks good but the chain appears to wear quite
quickly. I was talking to them at Stafford and have given them a chain for test that should cure the problem.
