A lot of bad feelings arising.

Diplomatic immunity from any criminal prosecution seems to be a done deal. But, now it seems that it is
alleged that the perp was an employee (not just a spouse) of the gov't. Bring on the civil suit. There is stuff
going on that will be covered up forever.

Was there any further explanation, like legally there was no further recourse possible or was it just they chose not to re-visit the decision of extradition?
 
It was claimed, a couple of days ago, that she was working for US intelligence, hence the reason why she fleed to escape, but why that has taken all this time to come out suggests its a smokescreen.

Why, that would equate to absconding with, and then denying a governmental recourse or monetary activity and then manipulating said situation to suit their advantage in public, legal and private opinion..such an occurrence is beyond comprehension.o_O

Probably better to sue the US government's foreign service branch. I doubt a monetary settlement will come close to heal the parents grief and the pain they are suffering, my heart goes out to the family. Makes me feel embarrassed to be an American.

The diplomats that come to the US for duty at the UN in New York city regularly claim Diplomatic Immunity for countless "indiscretions" that would be called crimes if committed by ordinary people and dealt with in the courts where the consequences are, potentially, very real.

Good case for "brass justice".

At the recent G7 meeting in the UK its been reported that Boris has spoken to President Biden is sympathetic over the Harry Dunn case, who was killed almost two years ago, unlike Trump who prefered to sweep it under the carpet.
But I haven't quite got my hopes up yet as Boris has also stated the UK alliance with the USA as indestructible . . . . . ., yea , right! . . .
 
If the boot was on the other foot how would the US react I wonder? There is too great a loophole in ‘diplomatic immunity’ that can allow too many illegal acts to happen. I’m sure it wasn’t meant to be that way. For example, tens of thousands of pounds of parking fines ignored by Arabs in London.

A quick Google will tell you it's not just Arabs
It's a £116million so far ,all claiming diplomatic immunity to parking fines, congestion charging etc
 
Colour me cynical, but I'd guess this was just a bit of (advisor led) political posturing by Boris in an effort to establish his (hoped for) image on the world stage. Take a pretty small affair in global terms and be seen to be squaring up to the US. Truth is he'll have taken advice, Biden will take advice, then it'll be: 'my people will call your people' which is/was pretty much the status quo...
Great if progress IS actually made as the family deserve better, but HM Govt should have wrapped this up months ago.....
 
The UK Foreign Secretary has announced that the path is clear for a virtual trail in the case of Harry Dunn.
At last we are beginning to see some judicial progress.

The case of Anne Sacoolas, the US national charged over the death of 19 year old Harry Dunn is to be heard by a UK court, prosehave said.
The CPS have said the case will go before Westminster magistrates next month, with the 44 year old appearing via video link.
But, it appears someone has forgotten to tell her lawyers as they denied any such video link has been agreed , sight.....!!!
 
I'm wondering if Prince Andrew should not be extradited for his trial until the US coughs up this woman?

Does he get to claim he's a diplomat? Afterall, royals do perform diplomacy of sorts, more than some spouse of a service man anyway.
