Yes I have had a word with him. It's about an hour's ride away. As I have posted before even if you have a level of engineering ability it is often the case that you can only swap parts until you get the right one whereas an experienced mechanic knows where the failures are most likely to be from experience which can end up being cheaper and not introduce addition problems through part swapping.
