961 ECU Support

I enquired to Omex and just got a reply.

'Due to the uncertainty of the administration process, we are unable to help'.

Matthew, a few months back I trailered my '14 961 400 miles one way to a Norton dealer to get my SC ECU remapped due to a complete exhaust change. The dealership's computer could not or would not connect to ECU. I'm a reading that I can send my ECU to SCS Delta be remapped? The dealership tech stated that it had to be installed one the bike to be reconfigured.

Good Question . I hope SCS Delta responds . I have just received my adapter cable and interface from SCS yesterday. So later this year I can experiment with the SXcar software.

Hi gchoppin

The cable we are offering and SXCar software should allow you to access the ECU and upload maps. If for any reason you are unable to communicate with the ECU we can help diagnose the issues remotely with Teamviewer or the ECU can be sent back for us here in the UK to test and upload the correct file.

We are looking to be able to offer solutions for owners of all ages of 961 - as such we have just taken delivery of this EU3 Omex 961 to produce an ECU swap kit for. Before beginning we will look at what components have changed during the production life (it looks like it comes with Chinese fake Bosch injectors etc). I expect it to take about a month, after which we will start on the EU4 bike (we have been offered a bike for development from a Access Norton forum member).

Thank you SCS .! I am very happy you are doing this. When Norton switched back to OMEX I wondered why , most of us thought it was the idle problem. They left us single seat SC ECU guys without a clean upgrade path. I always liked the Idea of having and keeping the ODB2 port like the SC uses for error code scanning .

Hello again , SCS Delta , Do you have the Norton 961 compatible Maps that you can send us for the SC ECU ? Like the 0116069 and 0116077 ?

SCS Delta, it looks like you are just the other side of the Wash out near Norwich? Only a good 'thrash' away :) If you need a EU4 machine to verify any of your findings then happy to pop over (once the weather warms up).

Hi All,

We have been looking through the wiring information for the EU4 model 961 to build an adaptor. It appears that the ECU and connector are a different model - if somebody could photograph the newer unit (especially the connector) it would be appreciated.

Thanks

Matthew

Does the OMEX ECU have a USB port?
Can you use a USB to OBD2 adaptor?

Good Job BritTwit ! Now SCS Delta can make an interface cable for the Omex guys so they can view their data ? Or are they going to make a change over cable so the OMEX guys can run a SCS Delta ECU. ? Either way it's progress.

It's great to have the support of the SCS folks in solving issues that Norton seemed to ignore.

They're going to make a harness to allow OMEX owners to swap to an SCS ECU if they wish. The SCS software/interface cable is only for SCS ECU's.
