I know I'm going to have fun fitting the tank (I generally do  ), and I'd welcome any advice as to what goes where on the interstate tank.
According to the parts book, there are studs mounted in the front and rear underside of the tank, and a stack (8 or 12!?) of rubber washers. As it's a parts book it's not helpful, and the workshop manual isn't exactly filling me with confidence either!

What's the correct way to fit these - i.e. how many on each stud? Should the rear mounts be studs, bolts or silentblocs?

Final question...should I strobe the Trispark to 28 deg. or 31/32 deg? The motor is 1oo% standard with the black box filter and peashooters.

As ever, any advice gratefully received!
I would strobe between 30 and 31, neither over or under.

I think it is relative to the rats nest as to how many washers, Just kidding. But really, I depends on the rubber pads and how your particular tank fits. Mine has 2 rubbers on each stud, then tank, then another rubber and the fender washer. I may pull another rubber so that the nyloc wing nut secure into the nylon better. (quick removing tank).
Here is a picture of the disconnect on the fuel line.

Well, it's finally done.
The tank went on this morning, and I ran out of things to do, so While it's still shiny I got some photos.

I put fuel in it and gave it a kick. As I was feeling reasonably confident I dared myself to get the video camera out...

I have to emphasise the prior to this, I hadn't had fuel in the carbs - this was the first effort with the carbs primed and the ignition on - honest ;)

I found it interesting to watch the engine moving in the frame due to camera strobing - quite educational actually!

I've since gone out and done a few miles, and I got an MoT ticket this afternoon.

First impressions are of very tall gearing, but with so much grunt it's not overgeared.
The brakes are spot on for the riding I'll be doing on it - the front has bags of feel with the sleeved cylinder, and seems to pull her up very well with increased pressure on the lever (I haven't really explored this fully yet!).
The handling is good, and very smooth above 2.5k.
The suspension is excellent - the Lansdowne front end matches the Ikons perfectly.

2 disappointments were the non-functioning speedo and front brake light switch. Both of these sorted themselves out by the time I got to the MoT station :)

I just need to do the usual shake-down checks and strobe the timing, but I'll wait until it's done a few more miles....I really don't believe it's going to need much tweaking.

So all in all, I'm more pleased than I ever expected to be with the bike, and the info people have shared on the forum has been invaluable to getting me to where I am today - thanks a bunch guys and girls; all your help and advice has been really appreciated ;)

With video! So sweet. Actually the first thing I would have check after it was running is the oil returning to the tank. Call me paranoid. Great job, awesome looking bike even though its' not yellow...

NICELY DONE!

Very interesting seeing the engine rocking in it's cradle like that...
