500 Dommie cafe race build

Hi

Finally pulled my brothers Dommi to bits. Never really had it sorted.
(Not really the right bike for the size of rider. Lots of noise not enough go)
I will post a few photos as I go.
Got a few bikes to build this year so need to get a move on.

Collected the frame from the powder coating firm.
Frame is an early bolt up wideline. The bike was built for my brother & was unsafe to ride. It arrived trackside & the brake stayed on when pulled on hard. The chain was too thick for the cases. Early Dommi's ran a thin sided Reynolds chain.
Since then the bike has somehow aquired my alloy yokes twin leading shoe second gearbox two different sets of carbs & my Boyer conversion (just to try) Not to mention it was fitted with a Newby clutch that was'nt for a Dommi & had been welded up & machined Off center so the clutch rubbed the cases, the belt played games with the pulley. Never liked it, never gave it enough time. Gearbox did'nt always shift & I kept burning my forehead when adjusting the carbs (high level pipes)
Got it running really well & upset the neighbourhood cos the pipes are very loud. Handled brilliantly (pre lockstops??)
However it smoked like a chimney.
Cord rings!!!!! plus something silly size.

Who built the bike to those specs? :?

Usual story. Racer who did a great job on my engine. Built an alloy oil tank to fit the special frame.
Then a swap deal, you build my bike ill do you a "package" I wont be specific, as it maybe a bit to obvious who it is.
It always starts well & then short cuts, cheap parts, arguments,late delivery , straight forward bodges to save spending money,etc. Shame stilted a nice friendship for me. I have to say "the package" was not what they expected or on time or new etc. I was in the middle & kept quiet & tried to stay out the way.

Time to sort it out properly.

Spent a nice long day with the polishing machine. Must buy the right polish!!!
Like to put the bits in place just to pick me up after drudging my way through it.
Wet miserable day! Again! Still better than snow?

Reminds me of all the bikes that I owned, they all had six bad previous owners and one good one! :mrgreen:
