That thing is going to disappear into it's own shadow. The nickel plating will tarnish, but it's easy to clean off.

Finished up the swingarm last night. Also polished the trans cover. Slowly making progress.

Very, very kewl thread Brent 8) You are a artist/craftsman, and I'm watching this thread with much interest. Thanks for posting :D

Looks like you are making some nice headway on your dark horse. Keep the pictures coming!

I'm at a stalling point right now. I need to get the frame and hardware done. I have an appointment Monday morning to discuss with the local plater.

Once they are done then I can get it into a roller quite easily. I don't have much left to powdercoat, Mostly items that need machine work first.

The engine will be one of the last items I get done. I'll get the bottomend done first, only have cam bearings to do.

Bottom end ready to button up. Oil cooler done. Once I get the frame and hardware done, I can build it up as a roller. Most of the parts are done now. Just the head, barrel and bodywork left.

My hardware came back from the platers yesterday. Highly recommended. They do CAD plating, works out to just under $10 a pound.
Now I can assemble the transmission and engine lower end.
I need to finish up my powdercoating oven so I can get the frame done.

You are aware that high tensile fasters are very susceptible to hydrogen embrittlement when cadmium plated ? If you leave cap screws tensioned up after plating, the heads can pop off.

Black is a great colour on any motorcycle, it makes tyhem look really classic. How did you remove the red paint from the bearing tunnels in the crankcases ?

Aircraft platers will roast the parts after plating, to remove any such effects.
Cad-plating uses low voltages and currents, and is not in the tank long, so any effects are largely theoretical.

Those parts above look more like bright zinc, it must be said ??
Cad usually has a whiter look to it...

Done by a FAA certified CAD plater, been in business for quite a while, and part of a large aircraft supplier group, they know what they are doing.

They appear to be a polished form of cad then, not the natural silver white-ish cad finish ?

Not my pic, but this is cad from back when cad was cad...
