“WHICH PARTS FROM OTHER BIKES FIT THE 961”

Did you have to do anything else to disable the unit prior to fitting the resistors?

YES , Once you know your tip over switch is bad or going bad etc. , the swing magnet should be removed along with any other IC's and components soldered on the PCB itself. I do this simply with a wire side cutters , and the rest of the tip switch plastic body and internal support parts you keep for re-assembly . The pc-board should now be ready for you to solder on the resistors and 1/2 watt metal film resistors is what I used and those fit nicely inside the unit. I finish by using some RTV to stabilize the resistors from vibration and shocks .

What a great job, keep up the good work and we'll be reet .

Do you know what type of lubricant?
In the olden days when people repaired things (brakes) you could buy rubber grease or you used to get it inside a wheel cylinder kit.
Girling or Lockheed used to make it.
Hope this helps but check the small print.

Can a UK forum member find out where we can get the front sprocket for the Norton 961 ? I have an inquiry email sent to JT Sprockets . I thought TALON was the best place to start but I think they said not from them . Maybe now that Norton is out of business we can find out where the front sprocket came from ? The rear is no problem just look for BST type 2 from TALON .

I want the stock 18T size .

Would someone for this forum in the UK be willing to spearhead a "batch buy" of front sprockets from TALON ? TALON said they did make these for Norton but need a quantity of 10 minimum to produce again. I am willing to buy 2 or even 3 if someone here can be the representative to TALON for this ? They will not want to ship overseas so you need to be UK based .

Very nice find. Thank you, Tony. What makes it an upgrade rather than just a replacement? Temp range?

YES , +150C not just +130C like Bosch. Some seemed concerned that the Bosch could get stressed by repeated over temps. It would require a very hot summer day in traffic to do this. Its just another option , I wouldn't worry about it. But if you're going to replace your head temp sensor you may consider this one. It is a current and available Honeywell product available from a variety of suppliers on line .

Or as previous threads suggest use the JUMO one that's rated -50'c to 270'c and was the NORTON stock part prior to there recent demise.

I can't get those , not available to me in the USA . If you have a source please post it . The 150C version should be more than enough range based on my findings .
