Hmmm... wording . Unlikely the clutch bearing . The clutch basket does move a bit fitted on the main shaft .

Only the clutch centre attaches to the mainshaft. Once the centre nut has been tightened then the clutch centre should be clamped tight against the clutch location spacer so the centre shouldn't move unless it's the mainshaft that is also moving. If there's drum play then it should be between the drum and the clutch centre at the bearing unless the drum is a loose fit on the bearing.
"One dot" = C2.

I will dismantle the clutch today and report findings. Trying to find a way of tensioning an AT 920 synchroflex belt !! Nothing on this machine is straightforward !! Many thanks. I already have this. I was hoping to find a solution to maintaining oil in the casing. The 890 belt brings the clutch too far forward to not damage the oil seal and the 920 is too big ? I spent many years getting the electric start to work so I thought , keep oil in the casing. Possibly will have to rely on copperslip. Must invest in a clutch basket casing bearing which has less lateral play. One day It will work, or nearly !!!

Found the clutch inner drum was looking like the inner bearing had been spinning on it? Have bought a new one and it looks a lot better. The important thing is that the bearing isn't a slack fit inside the drum or on the clutch centre (I suggest using Loctite 270, etc. if it is).

Try this site. Too short to too long for proper belt tension means a difference of more than one 10mm tooth/2 or 5mm on your belt. The CNW belt drive kit uses a 8mm belt with 32/70 tooth sprockets and a center distance of either 9.47 or 9.51 inches ( I have gray hair). The belt is 896mm (112x8mm teeth). Those numbers work. It may be that you have to massage the equation with a different count engine sprocket if one is readily available. Sprocket stock is available in a worst case.

Hmm. Cash isn't endless. Have an RGM belt & pulley kit retaining the electric start, (no longer available) pulley sizes fixed ? I've been rebuilding all day and think there may be a way to make an 880 belt to work using the rgm offsets cams with a bit of alteration. Have hidden the 2lb hammer !!! Thanks, Roy.
