No. They are too short, Plus that Ugly looking Bike doesn't have enough Shock Absorbers, Plus, You don't do Drugs. I now think we need separate forums for Long, Short, Domi and Aftermarket Pipes as well as Black Vs Shiny

Your first post and just look at the trouble you're causing!
John,
My Cali 50th came with de cat pipes and long open silencers, just how I wanted.
I guess it isn't as quite as loud as the shorties, but on a long run I find that an advantage.

Really? My 50th is supplied with the de cat, which the dealer is fitting. But he implied the long pipes are restricted. If they weren't I would be well happy too.
Glen, your 50th would have come from the factory with both Euro 4 compliant silencers and what they call open exhausts for off-road use. The decat pipe is also included as part of the 50th package. So the dealer should have two sets of ‘silencers’. The long open (as well as the short open) have a short section of small diameter pipe acting as a baffle at the entry. This may be what the dealer means as restricted? The shorts are louder because they are short. Some of us had the factory replace the front baffle with a straight through pipe but this is best done at manufacture. This makes the open longs sound like the open shorts but with a bit more bass!Really? My 50th is supplied with the de cat, which the dealer is fitting. But he implied the long pipes are restricted. Bottom line is that the dealer should be fitting the decat and the two open longs together with the right ecu map and handing you the bike together with a large box containing the cat pipe and two silencers. The 50th also has billet levers, bar end mirrors, cover and paddock stand so the box should contain these. If fitted, you should have the standard levers and mirrors in the box.
Hope this helps, Roger
Because the oringinal commando had long pipes I was leaning towards having the the long open ones at the first service ,but having heard the shorties on other bikes at the factory I opted for the short ones , where bouts R U in the UK Glenn ?There’s obviously no clear winner.
Well maybe it's changed from when I bought mine.
I bought the bike from the factory in September, they fitted the de cat pipes and long open silencers (as well as re map) from brand new. I had to pay extra for the de cat pipes though.
I have the original stuffed up long silencers (came with the bike) and cat pipes here still in their original wrapping.

Either will make it sound like it should. The shorties sound raspy like an Italian bike. The longs sound deep and throaty....and LOOK like they should. Long!!
Thanks! Good to hear that about Kickstart, I went over there week before last to see the bike. Very nice guys and Charles has been great. They are delivering to me week after next. Yeah megaphones would be great, louder the better. My ride route is usually Reading out to Henley and beyond. Would be good to catch up sometimeWelcome Glen.
I'm just down the road from you in High Wycombe and also got my bike from Kickstart. Really nice guys and provide a good service.
Shorties all the way......but Megaphones a la Dommie would be my first choice, if only factory did them for the Commando.
I met a chap at Kop Hill last year who's also nearby. Would be nice to meet up when you get your bike.
I've got Mothers Day duties tomorrow so will miss the Dorking meet, but am looking forward to some other excuses to meet up with others from Hone Counties.
Hi Steve. I like the idea of removing the longs innards. I will try the shorties with cats removed, with the aim of getting those longs sorted too. I too fancy a 750, get a lock up garage that the wife doesn’t know about!Long open all the way, or it won’t match that 750 Commando that my wife won’t let me have!
Had the innards removed from the original strangled longs and the cats removed also. Original Commando look, beautiful throaty sound, bike idles beautifully, breathing as the motorcycle gods intended.
Steve
I do agree the long ones look the part, if you're a traditionalist...
