As far as i know there was 4 different battery covers model and 2 different ways to fasten them to the frame.
I would like to see some pictures of the early P11 battery side cover.
Thank you.

My side cover was a later Ranger cover. Wasn’t very happy with the fit so I made an alloy cover more to my liking

i have an aftermarket one on my bike from burton bike bits in the uk ,its all i could get but it just looks wrong , so have got a mate to chop n weld and make it fit reasonably well , its off being painted at the moment so will post a pic when it comes back.

Four different covers? I have only seen one design and two different mounts. The P11 with a rather straight front edge and only one hole in the top, where the P11A and Ranger has an extra hole in the rear for an extra fastener. The P11A and Ranger cover also has a slight relief at the front for clearance of the ignition switch mount.
The only part number I have ever seen is in the '66-'66-'67 parts book, (P/ N 034075) which lists it for both P11 and P11A!

The cover shown in early P11 advertising was airbrushed in and never actually produced.

Hi Ron.
I have read it on NOC Roadholder Magazine April 2016.

Has this burtonbikebits cover been compared to OEM?

I’ve got a fibreglass one which is an exact replica of the original fitted on my Ranger. It is surplus to requirements, so if anyone’s interested let me know.

Yes, I have one for a P11 that I compared to my OEM Ranger 750 cover. The Burton one was slightly deeper and overall slightly longer, but close. Also, you need to make a front "latch" and weld it on and drill the appropriate mounting holes in the top edge and rear edge (if needed). Also the mounting holes on my Ranger cover are reinforced with thin washers welded on the inside. The front edge also had a double thickness of sheet metal that the "latch" was spot welded to. I added this to my reproduction cover.

Here is my '67 cover. It needs serious re-work, especially the brackets. Can anyone post a photo of how they are supposed to be.

Let me try some basic questions as I don't think the wood screw is correct for this year.
Is the rear bracket supposed to be riveted on and with this spacer, or welded on?
Does the top hole get a reinforcement piece on the inside or is it just a hole?

Need to find someone who can restore this piece before I give it to a painter.

Front bracket should be spot welded, not pop-rivet and no 'spacer' between the bracket and cover. There is a reinforcing plate on the inside of my Ranger 750. Both the top and rear mount holes on my Ranger 750 cover have thin 'sheetmetal' washers tacked to the inside. I assume this cover is an original. My '67 cover is a reproduction and had to be drilled, but I tacked a thin washer to inside of the top mounting hole and added a piece of reinforcing 20 gauge sheetmetal on the front inside where the fixing bracket is spot welded.

Thanks Ron,

Does my front bracket look original in spite of the different attachment method? If so, I will re-use it after removing the rivets and spacer plate.

The top hole has a thick reinforcement piece which I will probably just leave on for strength.

Burton's repro cover looks good and is not expensive, but you need to add a bracket.
