I have had an early 1971 HiRider with ‘70 frame and rear wheel.
I remember well that i posted this topic here and some of members replayed that it was possible there was an interim period.

Yes, therefore, a '70 Fastback having a panel attached by the 060836/8 support brackets also can't be ruled out.

Unfortunately "members" would stir the pot and create controversy for the gullible. Purely year distinctions are unfortunately very sloppy, thus my own adoption of describing the various evolutionary steps in a way that seems more truthful or accurately descriptive yet honors the existing model mark designations, but is then defined by the 3 main characteristics.
Rolling chassis version , drive train version , body style version.

If it was "production" 50 years ago then where is the evidence today of similar units in production level quantities?
One off's and owner hybrid modifications are often built by folks, but convincing me that the factory originally built them as production is usually not so convincing.
I was around and IN norton dealers in 1971 Hamden Cycle in Connecticut and in Syracuse New York. I saw no series 1 Hi Riders. But I did buy new off the showroom floor a new leftover 1970 (S1) yellow S1 roadster ...exactly as in my avatar, except no girl. It was my first motorcycle. $1635

So the battery tray is the same as 1971-74? Interesting.
No. Not very the same.
Is it the same of 68/69 without brackets for the two rotorlocks with add the lower bracket for side cover grommet.
Still has the front hole for chain oiler clip.
