Portland, Oregon, Seattle WA, Vancouver, Canada and Manchester UK have very similar climates.Too be honest the climate here is not that much different than there. It was anything but lovely on this ride, it was cold and windy. But I toughed it out to bring you the pictures.
To be honest I don't know if the basketweave is correct for 73....
We have areas of this country that never get cold too. These are big places so there is a lot of diversity. You poor buggers I feel for you having to lay up your bikes for so long, we been getting hit with a heat wave 35c in my kitchen at 9 am and 39c up in my shed, the heat is not to bad but the humidity is the killer, its been like that for the last 2 weeks but yesterday afternoon and a storm hit, first bit of rain in 6 weeks and has cooled things down a bit and the next few day will be under 30c and a few good days of riding without cooking our brains out, out west they been getting temps well over 42c but its a dry heat out there and this is only the start of our summer, we have had our hottest November recorded this year.
I have never experienced snow in my whole 62 years of life, but one day I like to, but would have to go down to Victoria highlands in winter for that.
Anyway I will be thinking of you all when out on my bikes while you are all freezing your balls off.

I'm not sure why one year would be more comfortable. I would think the foam would all be the same.Basket weave is correct for 73 only. Pleated for 71,72. Squared diamond for 74/75.
Yours looks original.
73 Interstate is the most comfortable Norton seat I have sat on.
I only had it a short while and rode short distance, not sure how it would be long distance.
The flip side is that even in summer we don't suffer through the extreme heat like you do.You poor buggers I feel for you having to lay up your bikes for so long, we been getting hit with a heat wave 35c in my kitchen at 9 am and 39c up in my shed, the heat is not to bad but the humidity is the killer, its been like that for the last 2 weeks but yesterday afternoon and a storm hit, first bit of rain in 6 weeks and has cooled things down a bit and the next few day will be under 30c and a few good days of riding without cooking our brains out, out west they been getting temps well over 42c but its a dry heat out there and this is only the start of our summer, we have had our hottest November recorded this year.

Brushed off all the Canadian snow today. From the cover. No garage or shed for poor me here. New cover today from Amazon so I will double up the covers and spray corrosion block on rims and primary etc. for the long Covid winter coming up.Portland, Oregon, Seattle WA, Vancouver, Canada and Manchester UK have very similar climates.
I looked it up once and wintertime averages are within about 1 degree.
Today it's 48f in Vancouver and 49 f in Portland.
Only 35f in Manchester however a couple of weeks ago we were cold and the UK warm.
It switches around.
People from the UK are amazed that there is a part of Canada that isn't frigid and under three feet of snow all winter. I get that from US friends to. One trucker I know is from Texas. For his first trip to Canada he came up the West coast. Trucker friends told him " Chain up when you get to Canada"
He laughed about it years later but said they all envisaged a vertical wall of snow at the border.
Anyway, this was in balmy winter weather. He drove slowly with chains on bare roads for 15 miles then realized how silly this was, took them off. Must have been a spectacle for local truckers!

Yup , that's us. Houses start at a million now.I lived in Toronto and also left my commando at the curb outside the house for a couple of years.
That’s pretty true Glen, we don’t really think too much about heat or cold from May to Sept apart from the odd few days perhaps. Keeping an eye on the forecasts for rain keeps us pretty engaged though !The flip side is that even in summer we don't suffer through the extreme heat like you do.
When I've ridden thru places like that, (Arizona in late June 38c!) we couldn't stand it, had to get away, asap. It was too much in the day so we rode North at night in search of cooler air.
We found it by Dave's place in Oregon!
The most comfortable long period of riding I've had was in the UK in 2007. In a month of riding from late August until late September we didn't even think about heat or cold. It only rained at night other than for one half day of riding. That may have been unusual.
Loved the UK at that time of year.

ALL foam is the SAME?I'm not sure why one year would be more comfortable. I would think the foam would all be the same.
Hands up who has their own barometer? That’s pretty true Glen, we don’t really think too much about heat or cold from May to Sept apart from the odd few days perhaps. Keeping an eye on the forecasts for rain keeps us pretty engaged though !
I have 75 weather apps on my phone. All will tell me more than I need to know.Hands up who has their own barometer?
What I mean is that when brand new I doubt the 73 foam would feel different from the 74 foam. Unless they changed sources. Now after 50 years you never know.ALL foam is the SAME?
Sorry, but I beg to differ!
Wait till u get a flat battery. . . . . . .I have 75 weather apps on my phone. All will tell me more than I need to know.
I can charge on the bike.Wait till u get a flat battery. . . . . . .
