There is a Goldie Locks carb size for each engine set up and weather and altitude its operated in. Modern carbs and EI have many ways to compensate for the scope of mixture needs but as Kelly found too small is not enough and too big is too much in his. Length and aim and shape of manifold matters too. If jumping Norton fence we actually lucked out on space to adapt into but face it real custom work generally means reconfiguring other stuff. Jim Schmidt did some air filter tests to show almost all the non factory cutie pies had some what less flow, through all of them had well over the hp rating of each pistons suck in needs. In one carb per chamber there is anti-reversion effects of double passage of mixture past spray tube that a shared carb just delivers to the other opening intake valve. I like looks of symetrical much as anyone but on some its a mass and power advantage to combine 2>1, if sized right.
The air flow splits around the jugs to slap-splash back together where the pancake filter rim is positioned so may nullify some the narrowness. Take it off in non dusty condition to see if detectable by sound and response. Might be advantage to put a plate above/below the pancake or even side facing funnels to direct more air slap into it than everywhere else. The air slap together seems at least as fast as forward speed, almost doubled in energy by the head on velocity which was eye opening to say the least in the unique conditions that allowed viewing.
I just know that once everything magically optimized it seems the Norton riders have the most fun in the end.
