Was looking at a pretty little manx...

I talked to the owner of the shop where I saw the Vincent, not the guy in the shop when I was there. He said that it's a Bitsa but all original Vincent parts (except the carbs that are on the bike as it sits at the moment - the original carbs are in a box next to the bike.) He confirmed that "It is set up as a Lightning." So it's certainly NOT an original lightning.

Mike, since it's a bit of a mongrel then the chap should sell it to you at a good price, tell him that even though he was cheated out of $3,500 you like his face and are consequently willing to redress this imbalance by giving him the original purchase price and $500 for his trouble!

Just yesterday one of my old racing buddies came over to my place with a 1965 Triumph Bonneville in the back of his van. I have been trying to buy this off him for years, he has finally decided that it is too far gone for him to tackle and consequently he has given it to me on the promise of the first ride on it and a barbecue when my missus returns from a trip - This is assuming she is still talking to me after she finds out I have yet another bike to add to the 10 in the workshop, under the stairs and in the parking space!

I would think that even a Non #'s matching bitsa Vincent in what looks to be a basicly complete bike would still be somewhere around $40,00 in today's economy so I think the guy did well no matter what.

Since no-one has yet posted a photo of a Manx Norton on this thread to compare with the neat pushrod single in Manx garb, here is the real thing: a 30M (350cc).

Edit: my mistake, it's a 40M.

Mike, regardless of whether it's a Black Lightning or not, ANY Vincent twin for that money is a steal! You sure you heard that guy right and he's not one zero out?!
