She's a beauty...you gotta make it happen, CB360 sale or not, go get it. Cj

Re: Looking at a 1974 Norton 850- opinions please

Even with a hole in the side of the crankcase it's worth it. Have we made our case yet?

Re: Looking at a 1974 Norton 850- opinions please

Post that CB360 up where the Queen City Aces will see it...one of them will probably snap it up.

Also, if you pass on that Norton let me know...I will come get it now!

Re: Looking at a 1974 Norton 850- opinions please

Actually a former Queen City Ace member owned it before I did. I just checked and someone posted it on their site and the PO responded also that it is a good runner. Now I realize that was you, simpson. Thanks.

I got the blessing from the wife and from my friend who took me to see it. He was originally going to buy it, but he cannot do it at this time.

Re: Looking at a 1974 Norton 850- opinions please

I can't believe the kind of bikes and prices you guys come across in the U.S. Down here something like that would be worth $9000 min running or not. There was a blown rusty job that went on ebay Oz for $6000 a while back and it was a real wreck. Lots of heavy patina!
Let us know when you get it drone and post lots more pics.
P.S. if you change your mind I will come and drag it away for you

Re: Looking at a 1974 Norton 850- opinions please

Here's what I want you to do. Take A few wrenches & $1,400 in cash, promise him you'll honor the bike's heritage & soul. Load it in your truck & try to look remorseful until you're out of his sight. Then step on it before he changes his mind. Go straight to the nearest post office that sells large boxes, unbolt that gas tank with those wrenches I told you to bring & pack it securely (no gas please) in that large box addressed to me. I will promptly send you $450 and now you're only "out" $950. You just came home with a Norton for under a grand. You are a brilliant Norton owner. Get a Norton shirt for $20 and consult with this forum religiously. We're all here for you. It's probably gonna leak, but that's cool. Call me from the post office.

Re: Looking at a 1974 Norton 850- opinions please

450 for a tank, sell of the side panels and the gauges and you probably will only have about 650 bucks in it. Suddenly you realize you could part it out and make money on the deal and another Norton goes down the drain. Don't do it!

In case it isn't obvious from the above, the sheet metal parts are a bit precious and the original clocks bring decent cash if they are in good shape. It costs a fair amount to have them rebuilt. Figure a couple hundred each for starters. But these are also good points to know when looking. The glass is cracked on the speedo, deduct some money off your offer. Lots of the bits that make up the bike are available as replacement parts, but not the tank, side panels or gauges.

Just go buy it already.

If that bike appeared on the local craigslist (Denver) it would be sold within one hour. Then the buyer would relist it the next day, price tripled.

Re: Looking at a 1974 Norton 850- opinions please

I paid USD1500 at current exchange for my 71 750 fastback that was stuffed by comparison. I'm going to be in it 7000-8000 by the time the restoration is complete. Don't be a chump buy it.

Re: Looking at a 1974 Norton 850- opinions please

Phase one complete. My CB360 is sold. On CL since Tue. The owner of the Norton will be contacted today.
